Genesis Coupe - Modded pics

well anyone that says they will never own a hyundai reminds me of a time when people wouldn't want to own a mazda, before the 3rd gen. proteges and such i would have never looked to own a mazda. just the same with hyundai they have come a long way to bad people keep bashing but to each there own.

i have to chime in.

for everyone saying the hyundai's are made like crap, and have issues, hyundai has been right there on top of the JD power and associates list for a few years for there quality.

i owned a tibby from 01 till fall of 07. i bought it so i could have a nice reliable daily driver CAUSE MY MAZDA'S kept breaking down. (im not joking sadly, lol) and i wanted something i could take across country and actually get there. all i could afford for a pretty much new car that was a manual, was a tibby.

in the 7 years i owned it, i never once got stranded, went to the track probably a dozen times with it, even saw 2 two mile road course's. it still is my fav car ive ever owned. in many ways the fully loaded mazda6 i have now still cant compare to it.

My Sister got a Kia Rio when she grad'd back in '04 and I got a Mazda3 in '07 when I got out of high school.

My car has been in the shop a lot, her Kia never had a problem other than a tiny gas tank and being thirsty. I like Kia's and Hyundai's are great cars esp for new drivers or older ones they feel solid and are really safe and come with a million airbags.

My sister traded in her Kia for a 2008 Mazda5 but she looked at the Kia Rondo. the Mazda had the looks safety and mpg she needed.

I've been in three acidents in my Mazda and she is still trucking so I give kudos to Mazda/Volvo.

I work at a hyundai dealership, and we are getting our first coupes in a couple weeks.

Also, hyundais for the most part are reliable. The stuff taht breaks is just trim stuff. My dealership does not do alot of heavyline work (engines and trannies)

I believe your input would be the most factual one in this forum. Once you get some of those coupes for service and warranty work let us know what are the most known pains and pros (I know you are not in the services area, but close enough to see the action ;)). It might be that some of are all wrong and the car is just a reliable, well designed piece of machinery.

Compared to other car brands, Hyundai would be one of the very few ones that has good moolah to grow and hit hard on some car segments today. As per KIA, the only point of comparison I've seen up-close is the KIA Rondo, and I'm not really impressed. I actually got one as a rental and it was just a meh experience...

dont compare rentals though. ever seen the base model crap mazda6 they give as rentals? there beyond stripeed, with nasty cloth seats.

i went to cali in nov. and had a 6 on hold as a rental, then i got there... wow, it was like the ugliest 6 i had ever seen.... so i upgraded to a 08 mercedes c300. lol. hey, im used to a plush loaded 6, the mercedes would just have to do. lol

Mazda6i to a Mercedes c300 rental upgrade, what is it, only like $2 more a day, right? (lol2)

Yeah, from the Mazda6i Sport to Mazda6i Grand Touring I can see a big difference on goodies, but I just care about the basics to compare (4cyl engine, chassis, auto tranny, steering system), which are essentially the same in the KIA case.

As per comparos, the 09 Rondo I rented was an LX, with some goodies above the basic trim, yet the 4cyl and 4cyl EX have the same basics

Also, I drive Mazda5 Sports, not Mazda5 Grand Tourings, so I'm not picky :)

well, it went from $460 for 6 day's, to $890. lol. but me even paying the $460 for the base model was WAY too much. i cant believe the car they tried pasing off on me was a lower model of my own car. gag~

i made the better decision anyway. spending a whole week in LA, you really need a nice car to get around. and that c300 was straight gangsta! put over 1200 miles on it in less then 7 days!

I will take one any day of the week, i love the genesis coupe. 2.0T rwd ftw! The engine desgin is called the "world engine" the same block at the EVOX 4B11 but with different internals.

Yeah they seem to be the only company paying attention to young car modders. Turbo and rwd for under 30k. I wish mazda would go this route with a car.

i wish mazda would get there heads out of there ass and sell something as basic as a 2 door sedan again....

ever realize mazda hasnt sold a 2 door normal car since 97 and the last mx6? only 2 door they sell now is the miata/mx5. (which is a convertable/ sports car) there's a VERY LARGE gap in there automotive offerings. a 2 door mazda6 or 3 is really needed for mazda.

There are pic's (Shop'd) of a Mazda6 Coupe floating around doesn't look to bad and if Mazda really wanted to try and get Accord drivers they need the coupe, even the Altima has a coupe now. And the Mazda3 sells are great but if it had a coupe then all the Civic coupes might come over and Zoom-Zoom Mazda speed in the coupe verison would put up a fight with the Civic Si too.

I pretty much know all the things that go wrong with hyundais being that if somethings getting worked on, im the one getting the parts from it.

I talked to the service manager the other day, and she wants me to be one of the coupe "experts" in the dealership. This is a whole no market of people who will be coming to the dealership and asking questions that alot of people at the dealership dont know the answer too.

We are planning on having a coupe with all the hyundai performance parts for it installed w/ a warranty to be sold like that.

Hyundais really are reliable cars, and the quality has significantly improved. I cant say it enough. I used to hate korean cars and thought that across the board they were crappy econo cars. Working at this dealership has really changed my view.

When we start getting them in for service ill be sure to keep the forums updated.

But i will say, I havent had a single genesis come in for anything other than an oil change.

my mom got an sonata and that thing was just as nice, if not nicer, than the camry/accord she was looking at. I went to test drive all of them with her (she's not a car person and doesn't even know what to ask) and I was really impressed not only with the car, but with the dealer. The honda/toyota dealers acted like they didn't care one way or the other if we bought the car, the hyundai dealer was much more curtious, helpful, and willing to talk things over with us. If this genesis is reflective of their new mentality I think it could really be something great.

Honda and Toyota dealers are notorious for that kind of attitude. Even now in this economy, they think they're doing you a favor by letting you buy one of their cars. (jerkit)

That sounds like my 2nd Mazda dealer (where I bought the 08), and that gets my cars' business now...

The 1st Mazda dealer (where I bought the 06) sounds like the Honda/Toyota you are talking about. and they are just 20 miles apart, so I guess we cannot generalize on brands based on the dealership's service.

The only thing that both have: coffee sucks! LOL

haha.....yeah, and I'm sure that it's area dependent too. The toyota dealer in Colorado Springs was like buying a car in Hawaii, they basically said put a down payment on the car and we'll give you the first camry that comes on the lot, you might get the color you want and forget about choosing options. My mom and I just kind of looked at him waiting for him to say he was joking....he wasn't. He wouldn't even let us test drive one because they didn't have a "tester" model on the lot and we had to fight him to even sit in one. All and all not enjoyable and kind of left a bad taste in her mouth. We test drove one in Alabama (grandparents house) and while they were a little better, they still weren't willing to sit and talk with us and basically said "buy it or get out". She was actually replacing a camry and said that 10 years ago toyota dealers were much different. Again, I'm sure not all are bad, but 2 in two different states was enough for her to shy away from the brand.
