General Brake Question

2006 MS6 GT
I was wondering if you all could help me. I own a 2006 MS6 GT. I got my car detailed a few weeks back. What i noticed is that two days later my front wheels were dark with brake dust. I don't race it nor do i ride the brakes or anything like that. To add to that they have started to squeal a low speed braking. Like pulling into my garage or at a drive through.

What should i look for? I am not that much of a gear head so i want to make sure i get this fixed. From what little i know about cars i think the rotors are fine, they seem ok, but i am not 100% sure.

Any help is much appreciated.

No gear head here but get a good break cleaner at auto zone or something clean the rotor and around the pads!

The stock pads for the MS6 are dusty as hell. A lot of us can vouch for that. If you want to try and prevent it they have a wax you can use on rims. It won't repel the brake dust 100% but it will help a lot and definitely make them easier to clean.

Brake cleaner would be a bad idea because when you initially break in your brakes (har har pun.) you transfer a bit of the material from the pad onto the rotor itself. The cleaner will take that layer off and you will have to start all over again. This also applies to wheel and rim cleaners too.

I wouldn't worry about them squealing all too much unless you are high on the miles. I'm at 30k and my brakes are still good but since the weather is colder they like to squeak every now and then.

Mine squeak under real slow stopping if they're cold. I also check pad thickness when I rotate tires, so as long as your proactive, you shouldn't worry.
