gear and shifting problem

If you get a little bit of a grinding sound or you feel the gear catching before you take your foot off the clutch it may be a synchro problem. I had that problem with 3rd hear and its being fixed right now. If it just feels notchy then it is basically normal for this transmission. Synthetic tranny fluid will help some.

What seems to help some is to have the RPM's match the gear your going into before you actually shift into that gear. Less work for your tranny but more work for you.

suffering the notchy clutch for 1 year, and finally had change my tranny oil to synthetic 75w90, and it was a little better, so try it and also good for your car.

You asked about the click, click phenomenon....you ever hear the term "snick, snick" shifting.....well thats how its is supposed to be when you put the car in gear. there are two bumps(for lack of a better word) you go over before the gear is engaged when shifting. don't forget that when shifting it may seem jerky when you apply a bit of throttle because our motor mounts are soft as hell so the engine is rocking all the time. can't wait til i get the awr motor mounts.

If i shift into 2nd after a high rpm in 1st, I always get a grind. The clutch pedal is all the way down. My Civic did it too. I'm just too fast for the synchros yo!

I have a Clutch Master clutch and Fidanza lightweight flywheel. This combo makes fast shifting great and you have to blip the throttle when slow shifting becasue the RPMs fall really fast. I get a little grinding when going into third gear sometimes when slow shifting, but nothing bad.

I use amsoil synthetic fluid that is good for the next 150K????

The shifting is a little notchy, but I have driven worse shifting cars. My g/f just got a new Jetta and the germans make a nice smooth drivetrain.
