gas tank size?

I've been trending my gas since about a month after I got the car:
Check it out here
I'm a bit dissapointed in the mileage, it has kind of rollercoastered, but gives me a really good idea on what to expect!

Looks pretty similar to mine, perhaps slightly lower. I usually don't go below 25mpg. A large part of my driving is highway driving though.

what's the size of the gas tank on pro5? 12.5 gallons?

i'm gettin diff sizes 14.5, 15 from online sources.

no way its 14.5. Since i've had my car I never once reach 14.5 let alone 13.0 gallons. (pissed) I know everywhere says our tanks are 14.5 but to me that has to be wrong. Has anyone ever once filled there tanks up to 14.5??

I think its 14.5. I got close to 13 with the light on but when that light comes on I go to the pump asap.

18.07MPG?!
That has to be a fluke or you were SCCA Racing it all weekend?!
Gas prices are cool to look thru on your spreadsheet. Do you log miles for work or just that OCD about it? Not flaming you about it, just curious.

I get about 320miles (avg 26-27mpg daily driving strret/highway) on the car b4 the light turns on. I was told I shouldn't let the car get that low since the fuel pump is in the tank and it is cooled by the fuel in the tank?

Nope, no fluke, that's what I got. That is probably about the time they were switching over to winter blend and the ECU was relearning. Or I was hammering on it on the county highways :) I keep track of it for fun, nothing else. The interesting thing is that almost all those tanks are from the same station and pump. I haven't been able to really track down the cause of the large swings in mileage. I do get good mileage when I'm driving highway, but into-town seems to be a hit or miss. I suppose I should put in the last half dozen tank fulls or so, time to clean out the arm rest in the car, hehe.

I have filled to 14.3 gallons once but I usually fill about 13.9 gallons. I drive with the light on for a while before I fill though. My last fill-up was 14.2 I think

From reading the thread it seems like people get bad mileage. When I drive home from school its about 330 miles and my car is usually a little below the half marker. It's mostly highway but I never get to run it dry because I fill it up before I hit the road to come back and I never stay home long enough to run it low. Given the fact that gas guages aren't too accurate I would say I at least had a quarter tank so at most I used about 11 gallons which is 30 mpg. And this is going on the super safe side by saying I only had a quarter left. I probably had more.

I think usually I get mid-high 300s. My memory sucks due to certain activities early in my life so I can't remember too well. I never go above 3000 RPMs unless I am in the speedy mood which isn't too often.

Not to go off topic since I feel this is related but in casual driving when do you guys shift? For me it depends on what the speed limit is (a.k.a my final speed) but I normally shift into 2nd around 10ish. If I am on campus (speed limit 25 mph) I usually shift into 3rd about 18-20 mph and into 4th at upper 20s where I stay unless I hit an incline. I increase those numbers as the speed limit increases. For 40 mph I shift into 3rd at about 21-4 and 4th about 31-33, then 5th when i get to 40mph. Highway I didn't feel like testing right now so I don't know the numbers but they are a lot higher. I usually drive very relaxed.

Needless to say people frequently pull around me after a stoplight because I am not mashing on the gas off the line like they are. With gas prices like they are they can feel free to for all I care. Unless the bastards make a gesture, then I speed by them, cut them off, then slowly decrease speed till about 10-15 under the speedlimit. The trick is to take about 5-10 seconds to slow down so the people that were originally behind you are now beside the bastard and he can't pass. (enguard)

What does everyone else shift at daily driving?

Reading all this makes me feel pretty good about the mileage I'm getting with the sport auto. I have only got 14 gallons in once & that was just about completely on E. I have a 30 mile trip each way to work with mix of highway/city with maybe one way in some stop n go traffic & I am not shy with the gas pedal when need be & am getting 350 miles easy every time by the time the light comes on. I could probably squeeze 450 on a highway cruise at posted limits. This is with numerous mods as well so I guess I'm likin that 27-28mpg avg a little more now seeing what others are getting with manual trans.

Well I just filled up yesterday ($2.96 per gallon!) so I guess I can add my experience:

I commute about 15 miles to work everyday with moderate traffic in the morning and heavy at night. I also do a fair amount of driving around in "city" conditions at night/during weekends. By the end of every tank I would say I'm about 50/50 for city/highway driving. I usually shift at 3.5k out of first and then about 3k or less out of the others normally but I do occasionally like to drive "spiritedly" (sp?) and sometimes I poke along shifting at like 2.5-2.75k because I feel like just relaxing. On top of all that I managed almost 26 mpg (25.805) on my last tank and that was with flying down the interstate at 80 mph with the gas light on for ~10 miles!
