The P5 is not a very good mpg car in the first place, that is my own experience after 12 years with Civics, but your car is new, fuel mileage WILL get better with time. Mine is very close to Mazda's spec of 7.6L/100km on the highway, and it has 33000km on the odometer.

Just be patient, use regular gas, synthetic oil, and adopt a non aggressive way of driving if high mpg's are what you want.

your not going to get good MPG unless something is done with the final drive ratio and second the ****** runs balls to the wall rich.
believe it or not but we set up a piggy back to monitor just fuel on a normal p5 and actually increased the gas mileage in city and highway
not to mention throttle responce was also improved all thru the rpm bamd

by controling the duty cycle of the injectors.
with the proper management , EGT gauge , fuel gauge, and o2 sensor monitoring. now it was an expirament but it worked
it would have worked better if we didnt decide to drop it and turbo charge but the ignition was dificult to ajust and use premium gas.
it runs very rich from the factory
one reason is becuase they dont know about every persons driving habits and what brand or uality gas your going to use
so to make CARB happy they stick a precat into the system and a VTCS in the manifold to suppress emmisions.
it was cheaper for them to mass produce these items that really "cover up " the problem because they introdused a old design in the 2.0
trust me i dont think this will be the case in the new cars with the new engine tecnology
i already see the difference in my mazda 6

Being in So. Cal. I've come to the conclusion that price is the main factor on where I get my gas. Not to mention the driving environment here like someone mentioned earlier in this thread and keeping track of mileage is futile. Just horrible.

Just to inform ya all, this morning, on the south shore of Montreal, gasoline sells for $2.76 per US gallon. Just before the war, it was $3.36, and I even saw it at $3.46...
