I just updated the FIRMWARE on my G-Tech..

Many are aware of the original...

This little Baby started a revolution... It was simple and accurate, Most important. The Results were able to be duplicated over and over.

Alot of work went into it and then they came out with this...

Updated and full of cool features. This is the one I picked up last year.

Since then there have been two more..

The SS
ss_prod_top.gif

The RR
rr_prod_top.gif

The SS has less features than the RR and is alot cheaper...

The SS has even less features than the original black one that I picked up.

Here is the SUPER COOL THING...

I have the old one, but got a firmware update to make it current with ... Not the SS, but the silly expensive RR!

Here is a link for those who have the "Mid Old G-Tech"

I'll post more info soon...

Before the UPDATE. There was a basic mode. Dragstrip Mode

It gave all the regular info like on a Dragstrip.

60Ft
330Ft
1/8th Mi
1000Ft
1/4 Mi

Plus 0-60
Braking Distance
Horse Power
Torque
Engine RPM ETC...

The New Firmware has another mode called "Road Racer"

It gives you the chance to record

Maximum Lateral G
Maximum Acceleration
Maximum Braking Foce
and Peak RPM.

What a sweet upgrade...

Here is Standard Driving Mode...

Here is Road Racer Mode...

This is the level of detail it gives...

I had lent it to my bud Paul to play with, This run is a comparison of our two Cars..

Paul Black Zero PSI
MP5T Red Ten PSI

The HP numbers are low because the car was in motion and the loss to aerodynamic factors is calculated. Basically, the number represents the amount of work (HP) that was needed to move the weight of the car and driver to the G forces over time. It's a real easy concept to understand with some basic math. However, congrats to the guy who busted his balls to make it work!

in reference to the way the thing computes power using physics...wouldnt loss of traction affect that...a LOT?

Badass, just in time to prep for SCCA again. I'll have to upgrade my firmware as well. Super handy...

That's a very nice software package for an accelerometer (sp?)

Better than nothing, but not as accurate as pro level equipment obviously. Still, - it gives you some idea of what is going on at a bargain price.

Yes, you will see wheel spin on the graph if you get any. The G force line shoots up then drops for a second and then when it hooks up again, it spikes a bit then levels out. It's a great wat to see how much slip you have because the graph is quite detailed and done in tenths of a second...

The HP is calculated in second gear at peak. Work of HP is Force Over Time. A simple matmatic equasion if you know the weight of the item that the force is being applied to over time, you know the HP that is being placed on the item...

Please let me know how it goes and how you like it. We can keep this thread as a record.

The one think you will notice is that on the normal driving mode... you will lose the regular bar graph for g forces for a numerical readout. I think it's great...

They claim that it is very accurate. I have spoke to people who have used it on a 1/4 mile track and the numbers were within 2% of the time slip.

It is super cheap and has many usefull features...

I love the road racing mode on my G-tech. Let's you track cornering Gs and acceleration/braking Gs and can log up to 2 hrs or something ridiculous like that. Couple that with a GPS reciever and an in-car cam and you have yourself plenty of data to learn from.

Badass, thanx Brian. I like the features of the gtech pro, but this is a nice added bonus.

I have yet to give the new additons a real test. My car is in pieces and it's winter... Looking to the SPRING (bow)

It makes me wonder why they did it. I mioght have sold this one and got an RR.(shrug)

Wicked Custome Service!

They did it to keep the original buyers like us happy. I sure as hell wouldn't want to pay another $250 for the same thing + 1 extra feature.

Hey guys,

Does the updated Competition model still miss out on anything against the new RR model?
And in that case, can the SS model be upgraded to match the RR model? Or is the SS missing the serial cable connecter?
See I was thinking of purchasing the Competition model now it can be upgraded. The blue display and black casing looks much more attractive too!

Chicaboo.

The SS is not Upgradeable. It has no memory features...

The RR has diferent graphics on the start, but they are the same... (ricer)

Any body interested in purchasing one. I have the Gtech Pro Performance meter. It retails for 329 i believe its the newest one out there. I am willing to sell if for 200. I do not have enough knowledge to use it to its fullest potential. Its still in perfect condition.

PM me if iterested.
