I'll be heading over there for the weekend and want to know of some good roads within 10 miles of there so anyone that knows anything and some stuff to do there, post here por favor.

Thanks

I'm originally from Southern New Mexico and my dad grew up in Ruidoso. This is usually the time of year when it gets snowy and the roads around there aren't great. All the roads I know of are west of there near I-25. There are no freeways and most of the roads are 2 lane highways.

If you are coming from West Texas, there are probably going to be several roads along the way that will have absolutely no one on them. Once in Ruidoso, you might want to head towards Alamogordo, but it's probably one of the only other ones around.

What the heck are you doing in Ruidoso anyway?

Friends are going skiing and I'm going to enjoy the scenery and watch friends gamble. So I figured maybe I'd go and check out the curvy roads if there are any. I remember when I went to NM a couple years back to check out the observatories, there were many roads that I had fun on so I figured I'd ask.

there is a back road but comparied to the one in the mountians of cloudcroft the back road there is like for beginners and like said befor this time of the year snow is in the montains but due to th fact that i'm deployed i couldn't tell you there is or isn't any but if you want curves that would make you feel like your in the Intial D series start point from alamagordo 70 head 82 west towards cloud croft turn onto 130 which is before the exxon gas station it will run for a little while and the truns there are just sampler then you make another right towards tolup peak park and from there on is pure-heaven-wish-i-had-slicks-curves-like-that fukd up line you drew in first grade. an it goes on forever! but like i said i don't know how the roads are this time around and if there is snow its not advised unless you want to learn how good you realy are like i did when i was in alaska for three yrs. if anything pull up a map and if you look you can do one big loop that would be about a two hour loop but that route includes cow bars which can throw your flow off and if your car is way lowered can throw you around plus you could go off the road into the steap hills with no real way to comunicate because there is no bars to have at certian points. if anything for a short fun turn filled dive you could just go up to cloud croft and back down but if you meet traffic its hard to pass on the way down and if not turbo'd the way up can be very slow second gear climb at points. sorry for the run on
