Full Circle Service - First Oil Change

When I bought the speed3, I got a free full circle service coupon with an appointment date of 11/16/08.
I assume this is just a free oil change, but why so far from the purchase date.
I hit 3000 miles yesterday, but the oil light (or CEL) has not lit up yet, so the question is, do we change our oil at 3000 or 5000 miles?
I know a lot of peeps do 3 changes within the first 5000 miles, but I don't really drive the car hard at all.

We ain't drive no Hondas. There isn't an "oil light" that comes on reminding you to get your oil changed.

How do u know? Have you ever waited a really long time just to be sure :P
Is there no maintenance light on the car to signal when it needs to go in?
If not Mr. Kain, you think I should take this b**** in today for the oil?

Change your 710 yourself. Some lubemonkey killing time until lunch doesn't care if the drain plug in your oil pan comes loose while doing 70 mph on the highway and sprays your friend's car behind you with 5 qts. of 5w-30.

I sense you have some pain behind those eyes. Sounds like a personal account of a real-life actual event.

Actually, yes. The purchase of my last car included two years of free oil changes. Normally I do this myself, but for convenience's sake, I had the dealership perform its first oil change. Invariably, the events described above occured, and I had to have my car towed (at the dealer's expense). To compound the issue, the service monkey there was unaware of what happened, started up the car and drove it into the bay, despite me detailing all the details to the general manager the night before and being assured over the phone that everything would be taken care of. Luckily, enough oil was still in the car to have prevented any longterm damage.

So in short, do your own changes.

I change my oil when my service oil light illuminates. We have them.

read the manual....

Is that oil light a "low level oil" warning or that it needs to be changed?

I took mine in for its first oil change at 2600 miles the dealership did it for free and also found a oil leak at the pan and fixed that too. so im actually glad i took it to the dealer to get fixed.
