fuel light

just wondering, when does the fuel light come on for you?

Mines been coming on consistently when I have spent 11.5 gallons, which i find to be a bit annoying cause the tank is (apparently) 14.5 gallons... 11.5 is a bit early dont you think?

The way Ive been driving that would mean I would potentially have 50-60 miles left to go when the light comes on!

YES. WTF
i completely agree with you. hondas are 2 gallons, it appears that this car is 3 gallons.
also, if you have a trip computer, it's fun to watch your dte go down while the gas light is on. even at 0 miles, you can still drive for about 10-20 miles.
trust me...
but also trust that i have been on the side of the road pushing my car to a gas station

I have yet to actually test my prediction but Im pretty damn sure I can drive another 30 miles at least, once the light turns on. I would love to break the 350 mile threshold on one tank.. that damn light just scares me too much to push it, it feels wrong driving with the fuel light on for 30minutes+ of extra driving

but everytime im at the pump and it stops at 11 gallons im like wtf.

30 miles is definitely doable... 50 would probably be max though. 385 to a tank was my max so far.

rofl 385?
i have only hit ~300 twice and that was on long road trips on the freeway

i usually get ~220-250 a tankful

Just a thought.....wouldn't it be easier to walk to the gas station and bring back a gas jug with gas?? (uhm)

Almost all cars will do this because of the reserve in the tank. You don't want to run it that low though because then the filter starts picking up the crud and gunk on the bottom of the tank. That's a good way to clog up your injectors and filter. It's wiser to fill up before the fuel light comes on, otherwise the gas to gunk ratio starts going up, and you start using dirty gas.

well sometimes you have to stick it out for a few extra miles.

especially when driving through the middle of MD... nothing but fields and grain silos.

I've only let mine come on twice -- fuel pumps are expensive. Seems like the fillup was in the thirteen gallon range.

I'll never get gas until the light has been on for at least 25 miles. Its freaking stupid, I'm used to my old car where it was more or less accurate.

I just position my Dashhawk to block the fuel gauge & corresponding idiot light. So it never annoys me. (flash)

If the DH tells me I am below 20% of a tank, I fill up at the next reasonably priced station whose gas I trust not to contain turpentine & sea water. Or manatee jizz, regardless of whether it's synthetic or not. (Sorry... joke from another thread)

How do you do this?

All my fillups are in the 12.5 gallon range. That lights dumb you can go 30 miles easy once it comes on. I just use it as a " start looking for good cheap gas" warning. Most i've ever filled up was 13.9 gallons, THAT was close(guitar)
