Fuel Leak Above Transmission?

First post and I'm hardly ready to share, this is my 2012 MT Mazda5 with 150k miles is sitting on jack stands (awaiting delivery of a new rack/pinion, suspension, struts, calipers, rotors from rockauto) in my estranged wife's garage the next city over while she's out of town... and my phone's camera is broken. What's more, I'm not much of a mechanic. I'll post pictures when I'm there later today, but I thought I might get this out there to see if anyone else has encountered this problem.

I removed the battery tray to find the source of the leak, and it's just above the transmission around what I've got to think is a fuel line where it attaches to an articulating piece allowing for some play/tolerance. It's a slow leak, but it's enough for fuel to pool a bit around a support and boot that meet the top of the transmission housing. And enough to leave a few drops of fuel on the pavement where I've parked–it's dangerous. Embarrassingly, I only realized it was fuel after starting this new project...

Ahead of forthcoming pictures, does anybody know what I'm looking at here? Is this something that's known to become loose/require tightening?

Thanks very much in advance!

Still no camera for photos, but... I'm not even sure this is fuel. I don't think these are fuel lines after all, it's part of the gear shifting mechanism for the manual transmission 🤦‍♂️. It's connected to one of the clutch cylinders–maybe this is a leaky slave cylinder? If it's not motor oil, fuel, or transmission fluid, what other kind of fluid could this be? Remediation is replacement of the slave cylinder?
