Fuel Injector Cleanning

Hey All,

Every time when i changed the oil in my old car. I also put STP Fuel Injector Cleaner in the gas tank. Do you guys recommended also doing this in my New CX-5 too(toetap)??

Hi,

I've used fuel injector cleaners in my previous car, an '07 Mazda 3i. I've used one in my CX5 twice now. I have not seen any negative effects. I do believe it helps maintain the MPG. I am also wondering if this is just snake oil or actually helpful.

Any thoughts?

not needed if using top tier gas.

If you live in CA or buy Top Tier gasoline, I don't think you need it. California has higher standards of gasoline detergency than other States. Top Tier gasolines also have higher standards of detergency than EPA requirements. I have 155,000 miles on my 2002 Acura RSX and it smogs like new, runs like new, and gets the same gas mileage as new. I buy only Top Tier gasolines and no aftermarket cleaners or additives.

I tend to fill up at Valero or Sunoco. I have no idea what the gas requirements are like in NJ, probably not great.
