FS-ZE cams in my MSP

I just picked up my MSP a week ago and have been doing searchs on this page but I never found the info I was looking for. I want to know if I can put the FS-ZE intake and Mazdaspeed Exhaust cams in my MSP. If I can I wanted to know is there anything I need to keep in mind when I install them? Are there any issues with these cams when used with a turbo? CEL, lumpy idle, etc..... Any help would be great! Thanks, Evan

The cams will bolt right in, but HP gains are not known. They don't add much to the NA, they may make more of a difference in the MSP. If you get the cams get the Tripoint cam gears at the same time. I bet with the cams and tuning them with the gears you pick up 10-15 WHP.

The cams might create too much overlap for the ECU so it might not be a good idea.

overlap is when the exhaust and intake valves are open at the same time. The computer would have a hard time dealing with the total loss of compression in a cylnder, and not know how much fuel to put to the cylnder on the compression stroke.

BIG PROBELM CALLED DETONATION THERE. Check with your local tuner shop about an ecu upgrade or tune the cam gears on a dyno ONLY.

they are basically stock cams, nothing too big about them, i wouldnt worry about it

It's too bad I live in Redneckville USA a.k.a. Clarksville, TN. I have no tuner shops or dynos anywhere near here. Anyone else have idea's on these cams.

From what I have read, the cams increase duration, but don't change the cam profile.
IE the valves stay open longer, but when they open and close is not changed from stock cams.
I don't see why this would cause problems.
I say go for it!

I measured no differrence between stock cam and JDMcams, but I didnt measure the exhaust cam yet but the intake and FSZE have the same lift. The exhaust cam is nothing but the intake cam modified. They moved the dowel pin so it can be used as a exhaust cam. I dont know how to measure duration or rite now would not want to spend the money for tools in order too. You will deffinately see the difference in duration physically. The difference is deffinately noticable in the power band and is well worth it to me. It is not a heavaliy aggressive cam. You might want to talk to linuxracer. I believe he has the fsze intake cam, but I believe he also has the Fsze engine and he is boosted. I will go turbo in the future and have no worries of the cams being a problem.

Considering how small the cams are, they should work just fine with a turbo or supercharger. The exhaust cam has the same lift as the intake which is about a .020" gain. They both have the same duration which is only 8-12 degrees more than stock. These cams are still quite small by performance standards and should complement a turbo setup expecially with the added exhaust lift.
