the amounts of power it can hold. the higher the stage, the more power it can hold without slipping, but also becomes less practical for a daily driver.

the main difference is in the torque that you can apply...
when i changed from a stage 2 to a stage 3 there was a HUGE difference in grab.. where my car once may have had some leway.. it not straight up grabs... for examply.. when backing up.. the car shakes and shimmies... ( yes i realize you can just give it some more gas.. ) another thing that i notices... where a stage two lets you.. feather the pedal.. the stage three straight up grabs. you can feather the clutch... but there isnt much give..
here are some numbers ( these are in torque, NOT horse power )
stage 1 toruqe is 260 ft lbs
stage 2 torque is 309 ft lbs
stage 3 toruqe is 349 ft lbs
stage 3+ torque is 429 ft lbs
stage 4 torque is 349 ft lbs
stage 5 torque is 540 ft lbs
there may not be a big number difference.. but it is really a large difference.

I went from a stage 2 to a stage 3+ with alot of upgrades.
I hope this clarify's things

yeah, i havent decided yet. didn't get as much money as i hoped for christmas, and am thinking i should do the routine maintenance first. fmic fun, maintenance practical. definitely a tough call...

they are the same. mazdaspeed and protege 5 are identical
I know the trans are the same minus the LSD but when looking up Spec clutches it gives you diff. part #'s and tq numbers for reg. 2.0 protege's amd mazdaspeeds. just wondering which you have?
I'm assuming I will need a new throw out bearing and pilot bearings?

well I may have mis read your post wrong.. they are both for the msp, aparently i cant read this week.. either way, I called and placed my order telling them what mods i had for my car and they gave me the best for the optioin. but for all pourposes it is a MSP stage 2 Spec clutch... the difference between the two is about 21 ft lbs of torque. where as i have a stage 3+ in my car at the moment and it is aparently capable of holding 475 ft lbs torque.. sorry for miss reading :=)

clutch is good to about 309 ft lbs torque.. i was plannin on making in excess of 360... car mods that were on it before i blew it with the stage 3+ :
forged rods,
wiseco pistons
lightened pulleys,
7.8lb spec flywheel
stage 3+ spec clutch,
integral cams,
stock msp manifold,
cork sport s pipe ported out,
3 inch s pipe back exhaust ( straight pipe )
MSP ecu w/ Emanage Gold wired in
o2 clamp
Joep FCD
moded 440's
walbro in line pump and in tank,
custom made fuel rail,
aem FRP..

never got a chance to dyno it.. blew it during the break in phase.. and said **** it. im buying a nissan... fouind a rb26det s14 for about 9,000.. it has what I want done.. making about the same power that i want.. stock almost.. so it had that RELIABILITY that my mazda doesnt have...so now im going back to stock msp point. everything from this sale is going to take my car to a brand new engine point that is not built. and im going to either sell the car or give it away..

yes... I can take pictures today for you..

ill take it at the "give away" you dont even have to do the new motor.. ill take it blown up! :)
