FS-DE to FS-DET: Need infos

Due to many MSP owners that ditch their stock setup for higher output one's, I am strongly interested in switching my DE to DET spec's. I'm more into curves than straight line performance, so a stock turbo setup is my way (or if I can't the MAM Sleeper kit).

So I will need from a stock MSP:

1- MSP ECU
2- Exhaust manifold with heat-shield
3- Turbo
4- MSP oil pan with oil line

And from upgraded aftermarket parts:

1- Hard pipes (brands???)
2- FMIC (brands???)
3- BOV
4- Upgraded downpipe (brands???)

So do I'm forgeting something? And what manufacturer(s) should I pick for de pipes, FMIC and dp?

By the way i'm searching a MSP tranny, so I will get the limited-slip and upgraded clutch. An JDM Mazdaspeed flywheel will probably be added.

Thank you!

**Suscribes** Years from now, this thread will be important to me.
I will be boosted when I'm done the basic stuff (CAI, cams, exhaust, etc)

the basic stuff (CAI, cams, exhaust, etc)
All of these will be have to be changed again if you do a turbo.
CAI - will not work anymore
CAMS - FI and NA cams are different
EXHAUST - will most likely need a larger exhaust for a turbo due to all the extra air being shoved in.

Just trying to help you from doing stuff twice. Check out my DIY turbo install. Could be done for less than the price of a CAI ($150), good exhaust ($600+) cams $450-$500).

The oil pan on all the proteges is the same. If you don't want to weld a bung into your stock oil pan and redo the oil return line on the MSP turbo you will need the MSP windage tray. This is the aluminum piece that the oil pan attaches too. That is where the stock MSP return line bolts too.

You can also take off your pan, drill a hole and use a $5 bulkhead connector

whoa.. I never thought to realize that it would be so cheap.
If I can find someone to buy both of my drumsets, i'd have roughly $1400 to toss around ideas with.
Now, you've got me thinking... I can actually afford it.
I knew about the CAI (it would've be a cheap mod), exhaust (no exhaust=good exhaust for FI), and a tad bit about the cams. thanks
--Could you take a pic of the engine bay as a whole for me?
--Should I get a front differential, and a new clutch along with the other stuff?
--What's your gas milage(before/after)?
--And what would emissions have to say?
--What psi are you boosting at?
--Have you dyno'ed the car yet?
I'm only 15(16 on the 23rd of this month), and the fact that you stated that it would be cheaper in the long run to do the "D.I.Y. kit " will make be thinking about this ALL DAY tomarrow...and so on.
(Nice dual exhaust BTW)
Thanks

Stock, yes. Idealy no. Somewhere I seen whole discusion on another forum. Actally I think it was rodimus prime (matty) talking about the new wagner ones.
If I remember right it has to do with the length and time they are open. It is less on an FI cam.
Also you dont want an overlap on an FI cam.

Dont quote me on this stuff but I will try to find a link.

Will get you a pic of it all
The clutch and diff would be nice
Gas mileage appears to be about the same ( I drive on the highway mainly)
8 psi
No dyno yet

Also if you read all of my posts on there i'm not your average DIY'er. I have access to a lot of cool tools and stuff at my work.

Yeah, I read most of it.. You and your cool "sponsors"
I have a friend who owns a custom shop.. but it'll cost me way too much to have them fab something up for me..
I'll either end up saving my money for the next 2-3 years and purchase the HiBoost after research everything 1000+ times or try and get the MSP stuff for cheap(under 900).

Is suggest getting a complete kit from hiboost, or somewhere else that makes them, not really sure about different manufactuers for P5s, but a complete kit would be the easiest way to go, IMO.

If you have the money, ya probably the way. I did pretty damn good for what i spent, but most dont have the connections and know how i do. I'd have to say though the MSP upgrade usually goes for about $1400 with everything you need. Add an mpi or whatever and a better intercooler, and your still only up to about $2200.

You also need to have the time to do the install, as its not going to be a cake walk, on top of tracking the parts down, and having other parts custom fabbed. It's not a simple task, which is why getting a complete bolt-on kit is a simple option for those (such as myself), with neither the connections or technical know-how to do a custom setup, nor the time to track down and get all the parts custom made.

That, and you know it works listening to testimonials from satisfied customers. You can always get feedback from the other customers so you know what you're getting.
