car needs one , I just helped a nieghbor with his simalar car. we could not break the nut loose with heat torch or a 4' cheeter bar , thinking its better to let shop do it ?

spray it down with some rust breaker, or wd40, a lot. every hour or so and let it soak in over night. then retry. its not uncommon for the axle nut to seize on there.

We oiled up the axle nuts on my car for several days: Standing on a breaker bar couldn't get them to budge, but mysteriously a cheap harbor freight electric impact wrench did the job.

We remain shocked to this day.

If you can do it yourself you should eh? It just needs a lot of oiling and stuff. Oh also, the nut has like a thin part that's meant to be dented into a slot in the axle- make sure you un-dent that. Maybe the force put on the nut to remove it would do the un-dent-ing, but it's just something else to look at/be familiar with if you haven't already noticed it

Impact gun.
Get the whole knuckle from the scrap yard. Chances are the bearing in it will be OK an you will save $$
