And any muffler shop will do the cutting, it's not a big issue. The instructions tell where to cut, and the kit
is designed for MAF relocation, and has the reducer couplers included for that purpose. It can also be used without the MAF relocation, the versatility of the kit is really just up to the buyer's preferences. Another thing to consider with building a kit yourself, is that you have many different angles to conquer.
Not any DIY "universal" kit will allow you to have the exact number of clamps, couplers, etc. that you will truly need. There is nothing worse than beginning the install and realizing the pipes aren't going to work, you need more couplers, the FMIC isn't long enough to reach the couplers, etc. They give you a generic number of each, and that is what you get. No guarantee that it's going to fit your car, and most likely you will have to spend more money on more pipes, clamps, and couplers to complete the project.
The Altered Customs kit takes the hassle out of figuring out what goes where and what needs cut, since there is a detailed installation guide available. You get the exact number of t-bolt clamps, reducers (that will fit the turbo and piping), 90 degree elbows, the correct pipes, etc. in the kit and it is designed specifically for the MSP and it isn't a "universal" kit that conveniently is supposed to fit your neighbor's Civic.
If you want to spend more money unexpectedly after you already buy the first DIY kit (the ole "oh crap, I need a $30 elbow to make this pipe work, and two more pipes.. but what size do I need..") and if you want the hassle of figuring it all out on your own, then more power to ya. My priority in designing this Altered Customs kit was to offer owners an inexpensive alternative to other MSP kits, take the hassle out of the DIY kit, and offer a kit that has everything you need, including the instructions.
IMO cutting isn't a big deal, since the frame on the driver's side is going to need cut anyway otherwise your bumper isn't going to go back on. You just have to deal with some things if you want certain results, such as relocating the MAF.. if you want those benefits, you have to do what it takes to get it. The art of modding
well if you choose to relocate your maf i believe the altered customs kit would be of no use to you since you would have to cut it up. so might as well built a kit yourself if thats what you decide to do
