Front license plate holder removal...

OK..heres a dumb-ass question but its driving me nuts trying to do this simple procedure

Trying to take off the front license plate holder..I turn the bolt and some type of breakaway washer comes falling out behind my front bumper...then the bolt just turns but does not unthread..other bolt does the same thing.

:wtf:

Is this some type of prevention against taking off the front plate (a naughty thing here in california) or am I just being a dumbshit!

I searched the forum but found nada...

TIA

It should just come right off. At least mine did.
I don't have a MSP, but I can't imagine the license plate holder being too different. Maybe I can help you take a look at it on Wednesday...

i had that problem... if it dont unscrew and u really want it off.. u gotta take off the whole front cause one of the plastic pieces must have broke. hard to explane, but thats the only way i think. g luck - chris

You should be able to pull it right off. I removed mine to get more air into the stock intercooler cause these Texas summers are incredibly hot (over 100 last week)

Try reaching under the front lip and pushing the bolt from behind. Mine was drilled right into the plastic with the washer behind the LP frame, but not the bumper. You probably need to apply a little pressure to get it out while unscrewing. Or use pliers instead of a scocket wrench so you can pull on it as you turn.

Remember to keep those bolts and washers. If you do have to forcefully pull out the LP frame, rewrap the bolts in some plumbing selant tape and put a nut behind the bumper to keep them inplace. Mine were Gold/Brass and look pretty tight now that they're filling the holes in my bumber.

Thats the same reason I want to remove mine...it seems the plate mount blocks 25% of the front grille and would upset any air flow dynamics which were engineered into it. Its been almost 100 here in San Jose, CA as well.

I'll try your suggestions-

Thanks bro
