front door insulation foam soaked in water, frozen and torn

The insulation foam (?) in the front right door of my Mazda CX-5 is somehow soaked in water and frozen (it's been cold in the Baltimore area). As it froze and expand, the insulation came in contact with the right door and is now torn. Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Is this a manufacturing defect, or material defect, and thus covered under the 36K bumper-to-bumper warranty? Thanks.

I'd bring it in. I guarantee that wasn't supposed to do that.
