I remember there used to somewhere how much fluid per service. My apologies can't find it. Does anyone know much much fluid for front differential and how much for rear differential - I need to put? I have the OEM Mazda oil and plan to do it along with transmission next week. I know transmission is 3.5 quarts.
I will collect what comes out and will try to match it but knowing the exact amount in advance definitely helps.

repair manual says
transfer case (front) - 0.48 US qt aprox.
diff - 0.37 gen2 and 0.48 gen1 (if i recall)

Rule of thumb - best is to usually fill till the brim of the "fill hole". Once it starts to leak out stop and wipe excess. Tighten the fill plug. 30-39 ftlbf and use new washers for fill and drain plugs

The fill amounts specified in the manual are not the actual amounts that fill the case to the bottom of the filler port. I had to add 10oz of OEM lube to take the factory amount in my rear diff to the bottom of the filler port.

YMMV

Get a qt bag for each. Fill up like they say. It's not a full qt for either one but there is bound to be some spillage so it's OK.

The front differential is internal to the transmission, it's a transfer case in the front. Just in case anyone's confused by that.

You need more than 1 quart (so get 2 bottles) of Mazda Long Life Hypoid Gear Oil SG1 to replace both front transfer case and rear differential. The manual says the front needs 0.48 quart and the rear needs 0.48 / 0.37 quart, but in reality the rear needs about ⅔ quarts!

It’s common that Mazda manual gives you “approximate” fluid quantity for replacement. In this case on real differential, if you refill the gear oil to the brim of the fill hole by following manual instruction, you’d need ~ ⅔ quarts, NOT 0.48 or 0.37 quarts, which is 67% off!

The same on engine oil change. If you put 4.8 quarts with oil filter replacement as specified in Mazda manual on the 2.5L NA, the oil level would only reach half-way between Add/Min and Full/Max mark of the dipstick. It’s similar to the 2.5T, put in specified 5.1 quarts to reach half-way between Add/Min and Full/Max.

I changed the oil for my daughter’s 2022 Toyota Corolla Hatchback XSE 2.0L the first time last week. The manual says 4.9 quarts 0W-16 oil, the oil level is right at the Full/Max mark after the oil change, no ifs、buts or “approximates”!
