From MP3T to 2004 Evo

There are a ton of company's that make cams for this car: Tomei, revolver, piper, HKS, HELIX, and GSC... The most popular being the HKS and GSC which are nearly identicle except for price.

There are also a ton of dfferent cam setups available. 272's and 280's being popular for aftermarket turbo's and stragiht 264's and 264/272 combinations for the stock snail. I will likely go with a 272ex/264intake GSC combination which will cost me roughly $500. The powergains from this cam combo can be up to 20hp right off the bat increasing to 25-35 with added tuning.

Yes I was amazed when I first got the car. I kept asking people "ok, so when do I have to upgrade internals?" - because in the MP3 anything more than 200WHP was pushing the stock internals to the limit.

The guy who did my tailights is currently making 535AWHP with 100% stock internals. Somehow mitsu over-engineered themselves on the 4G63. The only guys upgrading internals are those pushing for 550+

Yup the 4G63 is a good engine. If only they had made that engine better for the eclipses:(
Couple of guys are working on that swap. Excited about how that will turn out. Its a direct replacment so there sould'nt be too much trouble.

nice. you should put in a good word with them for protege cams

Yeah, what's with the protege's not having any cams? So bizaar. I wonder if the power increases are too little? Since to mass produce them- they'd have to make them for the NA cars.(uhm)

lmao @ me being jealous and at the negative rep.

"bleh" was not something negative on your part, more like mine.
good job. :>

nice choice :) did evodave do your tails or did you do them yourself? i'm thinking of getting some evodave ones but can't decide if i care that much to spend money on them

my boost gauge goes in next saturday (stupid girlfriend taking up my time now so i can't install it), then after winter exhaust and i'm gonna go to dynoflash for a custom tune (since their shop is literally a 2 minute drive from my girlfriend's house)

Nice! :)

Yes, these are evodave tails. Actually they were the first MR tails he had ever done- I was the beta guy. But in addition to his work I added bbatmobile turn signal overlays to make them look exact.

reflasheds work good and give you a great powergain, I just hate having to send my ecu all the way accross the country everytime I do a mod. Nobody does them in AZ except Dynocomp and they don't do Ecutek ones for like $750.

I never thought you were jealouse. Nor should you be. It's just a car :)
Actually, I could get jealous because "It's just a car."

And the jealousy issue is on the first page.

I picked up a new digicam over the weekend and will be taking a few more pics of the interior/gauges. I got the SSL package (sound, sunroof, leather) so I have leather recaro racing seats- which rock! :)

Here's a quick snappy of the racaros after the inside was cleaned and before tint. I was taking more today but wow with the high megapixel cam- the inside looked REALLY nasty. It picked up every last crum lol.

smp3000 nice car, cool mods.
I was thinking of getting an evo (havent yet because I dont want to trade the msp) because I think Id feel better about spending 1500 on an intercooler for an evo, than I would spending 1500 on an FMIC for the msp.... and so on and so forth....
do you have any thoughts on this?
how do you feel about spending money on the evo vs. spending money on the MP3 ?

Well the MP3 was the first car I ever modified. So there was a stretch there where I went mod crazy on it becuase I didn't have a GF or anyhting else to waste my money on lol. I guess you could say I learned my lesson on the MP3. So when I got to the evo I already had a good idea on the mods/timetables for the car.

So far I feel good about the money I've put into the car, and it's nice to know it's all bolton or pnp so uninstal wouldn't be too brutal.
