Boys and Girls, for all you DIYers out there, let me introduce to you what real engineering is about. Stanford has this simple engine simulator for years, and while I was taking a class on internal combustion engine (hands on class
), happened to read about this program in one of the book. It is used by Rutger University's mechanical engineering program.

If you have questions about how it works read the webpage and go to your local library and read about thermodynamic and otto cycle internal combustion engine.
Just a warning though, it's a "simple" simulator, simulates 1 cyliner only, but it's a good start on preliminary modeling of engine and affects of mods that you guys want to put on like cam lift and duration. the best thing is it's free.
