As I read in the forums a while back someone metioned that the shift knob is mentioned under warrenty and that theirs was fading. So I decided to take my car back to the dealer, have them look at it, and turns out it is covered and you can definatly get it for free.

Although they wont let you install it yourself, if you want to do that it will cost you $217!! :bs:

I realize that price rounds outrageous, but thats what the service guy told me lol!

so really, if any of you have any wear in your shift knob take advantage of your warrenty and have it replaced for free.

yea, i just laughed in his face and said fine you can install it. and btw, the morons had about 7 ppl looking in and around my car just to install a frigin shift knob? lol

Exactly what was wrong with the knob to begin with?? Mine is in good condition other than the fact that the leather part is a little loose and spins freely.

to answer both of your questions, the only problem that i had was that it was worn, just like dexter explains, all brown n s*** on the right side of the knob.

I just feel wierd complaining about it though, because it's in good shape, just a little loose. I don't want to b**** about it and get laughed out of there like I'm just trying to score some free stuff...

you buy the car, you buy the warrenty, get all the free stuff you can get. Besides, i love my car, i want it to look really nice

i have a new shift knob (and shifter for that matter) fixes that problem, i have a 'custom painted' hp motorsports knob and twm short shifter,
