Free car wash by Mazda dealer

wow, they must be bad back there.

Remember the good ol' days when right after they'd pave a section it was so smooth to drive on. Now all the just paved roads and even the completely brand new roads are bumpy.

Thanks to the lowest bidder approach.

Since this is the dealer car wash thread, lol, I'll mention this:

Maybe they should double the price of gas in US (with extra road maintenance/improvement/building taxes) and see what happens to road smoothness and road congestion.

No thanks, we're already paying high tolls for bridges and parkways that were to be used to recover the cost of construction and maintenance and now the tolls collected are being used to subsidize mass transit and everything else that that doesn't benefit the driver on the road.

Exactly why it's more of a political discussion (Euro transportation model, pay to play, and mass transit does help car drivers by taking load off roads), unrelated to dealership car washing, lol.

What if we discussed washing the rear license plates?

Yes, and the price paid to get that little registration sticker each year.

But the Rubbermaid step thing you showed works very well. It's stable and waterproof.

Today I went to my dealer to collect license plates. Tried out the free car wash. It was jet spray followed by hand dry. No brush. Feel satisfied.

That's not good enough either. The spray wash will not remove all the dirt. Any remaining dirt particles will scratch the clear coat when a towel is used to dry the car.

Of course, almost every car will get swirls eventually. Maybe it is best to get the swirls early so that you do not have to worry about those any more ;-)

With you on the first part. Nothing like grinding the leftover dirt into your clear coat.

Swirls are most likely going to occur, but I'd rather have a few light swirls to get out when it comes time for the porter cable than a car full of them.

Hand wash + two bucket method = minimal swirlage (2thumbs)

Yes, now we see why out of state car buyers seek out California used cars that haven't been through years of harsh climates and repeated machine car wash/sand-blasting treatments.

My speed6 was bought used from California & compared to other speed6s at the local mod meet we had, mine had virtually no rust bc it was salt free for the first 2-3 years of its life.
I never go to any non touch free car wash & use my pressure sprayer with soap dispenser, even when it's freezing out.

Just get a milk crate. I'm sure theres a bunch of em behind the grocery store.

The Rubbermaid step stool shown above is safer, more stable and better designed for intended purpose. Price (even if not free) is not a deal-killer.
