Fragile windshield?

My neighbor's roof threw a big chunk of snow-ice and completely destroyed my windshield. He had the gaul to tell me that my 5's windshield was "awfully big." And while I agree, the 5 has the biggest windshield I've ever seen, I can't find any reports of it actually making it more fragile. Does anyone know if this is an actual issue and I have to find a new parking space, or do we call this a fluke? (My old car parked in that spot, raining snow and all, for 9 years and never had a problem. This is my first year with my 5, so I'm worried this might be a chronic problem.)

Anyone know if the extra size is an issue? Anyone know if they did anything to make it tougher than it might actually look?

I know it isn't made like my Saab windshields. I couldn't get those to break... EVER! I've already had one replaced on the 5. I think the size coupled with the lack of much curvature, does lend itself to less strength.
