Four 6" sub set-up

Allright guys, believe me when my buddy told me what he just put in his PR5 I was giving him some s***. He installed four 6" subs in the back hatch area. Cut a custom board to fit over the spare tire well, mounted the speaks in the board and just used the the empty well as the box. The set up sounds unreal. I quickly reversed my previous comments to him. It hits really hard. Sounds like there are two 10's back there. I was blown away. Thought I'd share. Talk about space saving.

I don't have any pics of the set-up. He resessed the speakers in the board and put grills over them that are flush with the top of the board. You could load up the back with most anything without worrying. Board is covered with black floor carpet material..you see just for little 6's under four grills when it's all together. If I round up pics I'll definitely post, but I rarely get to see my friend.

well, the surface area of four 6" subs will be about 110 sq in. and two 10's will be about 150 sq in. that's not a huge difference. basically it's like having a single 12 back there;) one 12 with the same excursion as the 6's will sound almost identical, except that the 12 will drop lower:D course saying something sounds like a set of 10's means absolutely nothing, since it's all about the setup:p many have said that my 10 sounds like a pair of 15's, and justly so, since my single 10 has out-hit a pair of 15's in competition:D

4 6-inch subwoofers?

hahahhqhahhahahha
hahahhahaha
hahahhaha, you called them subwoofers

wait this is a joke right?

damn whatever happened to real subs...

It is the most space saving setup I have seen and you dont have to build a false floor because of their depth. They sound f**king amazing the way it is done up! I was just sharing for those interested in being able to have complete full use of their hatch. Not for everyone obviously.

i've heard of a competition vehicle with like four 6" subs hitting in the mid 150's:eek: and i used to think the only real subs where 15's, till i got my brahma 10:p and i still want to see what the "Q" from ED can do;) the highest excursion of any 8 on the market:D

Hey, if the 4 6-ers sound nice then all the power to you.

I guess I like causing internal organ damage though :)

If you are looking to save space then 6" is sometimes the way to go. I've done the same in my Rodeo since I didn't want to use any of the hatch area, ned it for carrying two kids worth of stuff and I don't have a spare tire well to fill seeing as the spare is under the car so I've gone with a pair of 6 1/2" in fiberglass boxes under the front seats. I don't have pounding bass but it give you a nice little kick in the but, literally.:D

6 inch subs are incredibly accurate

I used to have 4 in a sealed box with separate chambers. Fit perfectly in the back of my camaro.

Goddamn, if I didn't have 6 points I'd buy another one. They are so damn cheap.
