I was cleaning my car the other day and cleaned off the carbon deposit on the tip with some pb blaster.

It got the tip pretty damn clean and looking good but I have noticed after a week and a half now with 8" of snow, salt, grime, and 800 miles of driving that is still looks clean. Thats 700 miles more than the last time washing it with soap and staying clean.

Has anyone found anything else that works?

Changing the subject slightly. This may be a dumb question but this soot build up that the MS3's get. Would it after a long period of time, say 30K or 45K miles actually have enough build up in the exhaust system to restrict flow of the exhaust? Could it actually reduce the exhaust pipe diameter enough to do this? Like a drain pipe in your house, eventually some people have to call out Roto-Rooter to snake out a drain line. Just a wierd thought I had.

I use my wheel cleaner in the exhaust everytime I wash it. Works like a charm, but it's a professional grade wheel cleaner that I buy in bulk.

Word of caution to all, whatever you use on your exhaust/wheels, make sure it's cool to the touch, you don't want to spray anything on hot exhaust or wheels, it could potentially stain them.

+1

Wheel cleaner and a scrub brush baby

Seafoam to decarbon and barkeepers friend on a scotch brite scratch free pad is what I use to keep the inside of my tip shiny.

Gona try this as i have loads of it lying around, my wife actually thinks it's smell is my air freshener in my jeep.

Brian. you can get it everywhere from Wal-Mart to AutoZone, it is fantastic stuff with regards to its intended use.

The other thing you can use is just some aluminum polish, works wonders and keeps the carbon builder from "sticking" next time just spray some H20 and wipe.
