Forge motorsports BPV

i installed mines today. it bolts right on. i dont see the big deal with the noise. there is a noticible change in performance. much better under WOT.
I LOVE IT! i have some phone pics i might put up.
not the best pics, but you get it

No, flutter and surge are different things.

Edit: Red is a little strong for stock boost levels.

I thought the red was going to be to strong too it only took me 2 weeks to swap out to the red (i didnt have surge though) if surge is present YEAH no good..... but flutter rocks(spin)

Interesting, I still have yet to try red. I've been back and forth with blue and yellow.

One owner mentioned that when he replaced the vacuum line with a silicon hose it removed alot of the "ping" sound.

im trying to decide between silver and black. black looks more like the stock piece but i think the silver might match the IC a little better. What do you guys think?

I went with black for exactly the reason you mentioned. Also it blends in with more of the engine I think.

Yeah, my original idea was to get black and try and match the stock piece, but ive been looking at this picture i took for MOTM contest and im noticing that the stock BPV stands out like a sore thumb. Ive wanted to go with forge for a while now, do you think the silver would blend in or stick out even more?

Hmm, I still have my stock IC with cover on, which is of course black. If you've got an aftermarket IC, I'd go silver then. 100%.

Sorry to repeat myself if you're reading other Forge threads but......

In regards to the vacuum line connection on the Forge.....what have people done to get a tight fit (considering the Forge connection is smaller than stock)? My vacuum hose is a little loose on that fitting. I'm considering wrapping some electrical tape around that fitting to thicken it up a bit and make a tighter fit with the vacuum hose..........thoughts?

Put a small worm clamp on...worked for both of the vehicles.

Performance?

What specifically has been your "noticeable change in performance. Much better under WOT" ? From my understanding of BOV/Bypass Valves, I don't understand how it could have much if any impact on performance. My car is stock except the MazdaSpeed CAI and CatBack, and drives great!

FCNutCase- An aftermarket BPV doesnt generally help performance on a stock motor. But there have been reports of the OEM BPV leaking. The aftermarket valves are holding the boost better and seem to be more responsive so when you shift, you get back into boost sooner than with the OEM valve.

Ok, that lines up with what I already knew about BPVs. Seems to me a leaking blow off valve would be a big problem, but I'm not seeing how a recirculating type valve (BPV) would leak... there isn't anywhere for the air to go, it could, at best, recirculate through the turbo again before being sucked into the engine. I guess an opening BPV would change the effective volume of the intake tract between the turbo and the intake valves, and changes in volume would create changes in pressure/mass of air going into the engine, and thus create some driveability issues. Is that what people have observed who have leaking stock BPVs?

For the BPV/BOV to make the turbo more responsive, to my mind that would mean it would need to stay closed longer (get closer to turbo surge) to try and minimize the amount of air that is let out of the intake tract, and also close faster after you get back on the throttle. Is that what is happening on these after market BOVs?

thats exacltly what it is. the leaky vavle would change the pressure in the intake manifold. i dont know what it is, and I dont care. all i know, it drives a bit better.

COOL !, i ordered one to, but mines back ordered. Glad to here it fits and works.

so whats the verdict with the springs ? Mine is stock I just wanted to replace the stock valvle before it starts leaking, im not to concerned with sound. Should i use the blue, red or yellow ?
