The BF GT more than lives up to the famous badge. The muscle car for the 21st century. With 290kWs of Boss quad cam V8 power and the choice of 6-speed manual gearbox or the optional new ZF 6 speed high torque automatic. The GT is second-to-none for outright handling and driver comfort in a 5 passenger Australian built performance sedan.

Like the GT legends of the past, its styling is impossible to ignore, incorporating the new GT badge into the upper grille. The new retro-cool FPV side stripes and Boss 290 hood decal are options and a new FPV dual exhaust system, Brembo front brakes and 19" alloy wheels are standard.

Total Performance also means total driving comfort. The FPV cabin has been designed to help drivers perform at their peak. Crucial information is conveyed to the driver in a millisecond. FPV designers have taken enormous care to ensure that all instrumentation is clearly visible.

Leather-clad Sports steering wheel, aluminium short shifter gear knob, alloy drilled finish pedals and heavily bolstered FPV Sports seats could all be at home in a V8 Supercar. The same could be said of the FPV signature Starter Button. But that's where the similarities between the GT and race car end. The driver's seat is 4-way electrically adjustable and is finished in Le Mans cloth. Leather is optional. Both have suede feel bolsters, locating pads, new silver stitching and embroidered FPV identification. Also new are cloth and suede feel door trims with alloy finish inserts. The individually numbered GT build plate is set in the centre console. Premium Sound is standard and features a 6-stack 150-watt CD player. Dual zone climate control air conditioning is also standard and includes a large LCD control screen that's set in the Prestige Interior Command Centre. The FPV GT. Functionality. Luxury. Total Performance.

The Boss 290 combines the best of both worlds, with race-bred power and everyday comfort. The awe-inspiring Boss 290 is a powerplant unlike any ever built in this country and comes to life on Australia's only current V8 production line.

The Boss 290 was developed right here in Australia by Ford Performance Vehicles for our unique requirements and to meet the rising demands of a new breed of Aussie V8 drivers.

Its 5.4-litre capacity, 32 valves and double overhead camshafts per bank work in concert to produce 290 kilowatts of power and a phenomenal 520 Newton metres of torque. So not only is there free-revving top-end power but a wall of torque at low speeds as well. In combination with the tuned stainless steel exhaust system, it produces the trademark rumble that lets you know you're driving a real, blue-blooded Aussie V8. It has a quality that clearly communicates who exactly owns the road.

At FPV, we believe that safety is a major part of Total Performance. As such, all FPVs are monitored by Ford's advanced Intelligent Safety System. This Ford-designed high-tech software activates appropriate responses to potentially harmful road, traffic and driver situations.

The system co-ordinates the release and synchronisation of dual-stage airbags, side airbags (sedans only) and front seat belt pre-tensioners to maximise driver and passenger protection in the event of a mishap. FPV's stringent safety measures also include superior braking and handling together with ABS and traction control now available on all models. The safest car, of course, is the car that helps you avoid an accident in the first place.

(from Ford Press Release)

Ford Performance Vehicles has unveiled its bold new range of high-performance vehicles at the 2005 Australian International Motor Show. For the first time since FPV was launched in September 2002, the BF range will consist of a full product lineup of six high-performance models: GT, GT-P, Pursuit, Super Pursuit, F6 Typhoon and F6 Tornado. The addition of the ZF six-speed automatic transmission has allowed FPV to increase its product portfolio with, for the first time, an automatic gearbox available as an option on the turbo-charged F6 Typhoon and F6 Tornado.

Never has an Australian-built production car range contained so many technologically-advanced performance driving features. The new ZF six-speed automatic transmission or the close-ratio Tremec T56 six-speed manual, the Boss 290 quad cam V8 or the F6 270 Turbo with its twin-plate clutch, the award-winning Control Blade independent rear suspension system, Brembo brakes and the outstanding Falcon chassis, all combine to offer the very best range of vehicles yet from FPV.

Complementing these mechanical features, the BF FPV range introduces an aggressive new styling theme with greater visual distinction between Boss 290 V8-powered and F6 270 Turbo-powered models, and more options for customers to personalize their vehicle.

The BOSS 290 Engine

The high-tech quad cam Boss 290 the only V8 production engine to be built in Australia has a number of upgraded features that coincide with the introduction of the new BF range.

In conjunction with compliance with the Euro III emission regulations, another new design standard will be introduced from 2006: a reduction in drive-by noise (ADR 83/00) from 77dB to 75dB. To achieve this, the 5.4-liter quad cam Boss 290 V8 is now fitted with the dual-entry ram airbox and a bold new twin-exhaust system exclusively available on the GT and GT-P.

The new twin exhaust system not only lifts the aesthetic presence of the iconic V8-powered models, but also generates a traditional muscle car-inspired exhaust note. The system has four-into-one extractors from each bank of cylinders joining into a twin 2 Ľ-inch exhaust with an intermediate silencer box. The exhaust gases pass through new tri-flow silencers before exiting via the six-inch twin-outlets that feature a trapezoidal design reminiscent of iconic muscle cars of the 1970s.

Despite the restrictions imposed by the Euro III regulations, Prodrives powertrain engineering team has maintained the power and torque outputs of the 5.4-liter quad cam Boss 290 V8. It produces maximum power of 394 bhp at 5,500rpm and 384 lb-ft of torque at 4,500rpm.

The Boss 290 is now up to 2.6 per cent more fuel efficient, with the GT and GT-P manual sedans recording 14.9 liters/100km/h under official ADR requirements for combined city/urban driving cycle. The lower gearing of the six-speed automatic records 15.0 liters/100km in GT and GT-P and 15.1 in Pursuit.

Exterior Styling

The new-look front bumpers further enhance the traditional performance car styling of the Boss 290 V8-powered vehicles with a larger and more pronounced lower air intake featuring the race-inspired three-slot spoiler.

Enhancing the more aggressive styling, all FPV Boss 290 V8-powered models are now fitted with 19-inch alloy wheels as standard equipment. The wheels have been designed to accentuate the power and presence of the Brembo brakes that are now standard on all FPV models.

FPV owners will be offered even more ways to customize their vehicle, with a new-design side stripe and hood decal package available as an option on GT, GT-P, Pursuit and Super Pursuit.

Interior Upgrades

The feature-filled cabin in all FPV models has received a number of improvements with the introduction of the new BF range.

Complementing the satin alloy interior features such as the Interior Command Centre and gear lever surrounds, the door trims now carry the same premium highlight on the grab handles with a soft-feel material. The performance seats in all models now feature Satin Alloy contrast stitching with the FPV logo embroidered in the headrests.

Brakes

Ford Performance Vehicles has improved the braking packages on its entire vehicle lineup with the introduction of the new BF model.

The flagship FPV GT-P features ultra-high-performance Brembo six-piston front calipers and a four-piston rear caliper. These calipers provide improved stopping power, better resistance to brake fade and improved pedal feel and effort. The monoblock construction is significantly stiffer than conventional two-piece calipers, generating better braking response and improving long-term durability and performance.

The cross-drilled and pillar-ventilated rotors measure 355 mm x 32 mm at the front and 330 mm x 28 mm at the rear. The unique pillar venting provides greater heat extraction from the inner portion of the rotor for better braking performance during enthusiastic driving.

The flagship GT-P and Super Pursuit models step up a notch with ultra-high-performance Brembo six-piston front calipers.

290 kW of quad cam V8 power. Supercar-inspired front end design, 19" GT alloy wheels, twin chrome tailpipes and all-new Brembo front brakes are standard for the ultimate stopping power. Inside, there's plenty of room to move within the Pursuit Supercab. Settle into the contoured FPV Sports seats (driver's 4-way electrically adjustable) and view the FPV sports gauges featuring oil temperature and oil pressure readouts. Enjoy the Prestige 6 stack CD system and interior command centre, featuring TFT screen. For a V8 inspired look, optional FPV retro-style stripe package including the Boss 290 hood decal are available. Standard is an FPV soft tonneau cover with the option of an alloy Sports Bar. Also available is an optional hard tonneau with FPV rear spoiler or combination hard tonneau and Sports Bar. The BF Pursuit. Total Performance means business.

A two-door GT in everything but name. The ultimate expression of the coupe utility invented by Ford right here in Australia. This is the Ford Performance Vehicles Pursuit ute.

Developed from the most-popular line of Australian utilities with Ford's unique Supercab design and powered by the same Boss 290 kilowatt quad cam V8 engine as the GT.

The new frontal styling is shared with the GT, which is based on Ford V8 Supercar design cues. Note the aggressive air intake with its tri-slot splitter and the aggressive lower front fog lamps. All contribute to the low, wide, ground-hugging stance of the FPV Pursuit.

Sweeping rearwards, the side skirts lead you the aggressive 19", five spoke alloy wheels. The tub completes the Pursuit exterior design with a soft tonneau as standard with the options of an alloy Sports Bar, fully lockable hard tonneau with fixed full-wing spoiler or combination hard tonneau and Sports Bar.

This is the best of both worlds: the performance and dynamics of a GT combined with all the practicality only a ute can offer.

Comfort Inc. Total Performance also means total driving comfort. The FPV cabin has been designed to help drivers perform at their peak. Crucial information is conveyed to the driver in a millisecond. FPV designers have taken enormous care to ensure that all instrumentation is clearly visible. An example of this is the race-inspired sports gauges which display oil pressure and oil temperature.

But that's where the similarities between the Pursuit and race car end. The driver's seat is 4-way electrically adjustable and is finished in Le Mans cloth. Leather is optional. Both have suede feel bolsters, locating pads, and the FPV logo is now embroidered onto each seat in unique FPV silver stitching. The individually numbered Pursuit build plate is set in the centre console. Prestige sound is standard and features a 6-stack in-dash CD player.

Ford Performance Vehicles has set a new benchmark in the Australian high performance car segment with the mind blowing F6 Typhoon.

Delivering a staggering 550Nm of torque, the highest torque output of any Australian built production engine, and 270kW of power from the turbo-charged and intercooled 4.0 litre six-cylinder F6 270 Turbo engine. The F6 Typhoon offers world-class standards of space and grace, whilst maintaining FPV's class-leading safety and refinement package.

The F6 Typhoon further reinforces FPV's mantra of Total Performance.

A whole new philosophy of performance styling. The F6 Typhoon's lines are sleek, European-influenced and understated, with a strong technical edge. Pewter highlights, high-tech front and rear mesh grille inserts and a rear spoiler featuring FPV's trademark 3-pillar design are unique performance cues. F6 18" pewter-accent alloy wheels are standard, while 19" Dark Argent alloy wheels with machined outer rims are optional. The silver finish F6 intercooler leaves no doubt that this is high performance - turbo style.

The Typhoon's clean, European-influenced styling isn't limited to the exterior. Inside, high-tech sports seats with silver stitching and an embossed pattern match the grille design. Suede feel bolsters and silver-embroidered FPV logos adorn the interior. To help protect you, there's the security of traction control and front and side airbags for both driver and front passenger.

The prestige interior command centre finished in satin alloy houses the dual-zone climate control, premium audio system, TFT screen and trip computer. Unique FPV oil pressure and turbo boost gauges are mounted in special binnacles. The individually numbered F6 build plate is set in the centre console while aluminium pedal covers, revised door trims and the unique dash-mounted starter button add the finishing touches.

The new F6 270 Turbo. A 4-litre turbo-charged, intercooled, 24-valve double overhead cam six. The highest torque output of any production six ever built in Australia and one of the most powerful in the world. Through partnership with Prodrive and their mastery of turbo technology across F1 and World Rally, the development of our high performance turbo-charged FPV has changed performance cars forever. We created a new engine with dramatically improved cooling and induction. The 50% larger air-to-air intercooler and dual Ram Air system significantly reduces intake pressure into the turbo's compressor - allowing it to work more efficiently...and effectively.

The result. A fully engineered performance-driven power generator. Armed with double overhead camshafts and 4-valve aluminum cylinder heads, the F6 270 Turbo produces its maximum power of 270kW at 5250 rpm. However, the real story is torque. All 550Nm on tap from just 2000 rpm and remaining constant all the way through to 4250 rpm.

At time of launch, the highest torque output of any production engine ever built in Australia. Even more staggering is the engine's ability to produce 80% of its maximum torque at 1500 rpm and over 98% at 1750 rpm. Total Performance meets the turbo.

The power to stop is just as important as the power to go, so FPV engineers have developed a range of new Brembo brake packages that will stop you in your tracks. Brembos are the brand of choice for Formula 1, Ferrari, Porsche, AMG and Champ Car teams.

Performance Brakes
Up front, huge 355mm x 32mm cross drilled and slotted front rotors with Brembo 4 piston calipers and 328mm x 26mm cross drilled rear rotors with red single piston calipers and are now standard on F6 Typhoon, F6 Tornado, GT and Pursuit.

Premium Brakes
For the ultimate in stopping power choose the FPV Premium brake package, which consists of 355mm x 32mm cross drilled and slotted front rotors with Brembo 6 piston calipers and 330mm x 28mm cross cross drilled rear rotors with Brembo 4 piston calipers. Standard on GT-P and optional on F6 Typhoon and GT.

Turbo-charged, intercooled, twin overhead cam 4-litre engine, the F6 Tornado unleashes 550Nm of torque. The 18" pewter accent alloy wheels are standard or there's the option of 19" Dark Argent alloy wheels. Your choice of 6 speed close ratio manual or optional ZF 6 speed high torque automatic. FPV cross drilled front Brembo brakes and Traction Control are standard. The F6 Tornado also features an FPV soft tonneau cover and the option of an alloy Sports Bar. Also available is an optional hard tonneau with FPV 3 pillar rear spoiler or combination hard tonneau and Sports Bar. The F6 grille design proudly displays the purposeful turbo intercooler, while the F6 Tornado supercab features contoured F6 Sports seats and an interior command centre featuring TFT screen, Prestige 6 stack CD system, plus FPV sports gauges for turbo boost and oil pressure. Optional is a Premium sound system and dual zone climate control with large TFT colour screen.

The new F6 270 Turbo. A 4-litre turbo-charged, intercooled, 24-valve double overhead cam six. The highest torque output of any production six ever built in Australia and one of the most powerful in the world. Through partnership with Prodrive and their mastery of turbo technology across F1 and World Rally, the development of our high performance turbo-charged FPV will change performance cars forever. F6 270 Turbo manual transmission. The F6 Typhoon features a T56 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission. This technologically advanced gearbox puts absolute power in the palm of your hand. Sharing an AP Racing twin-plate clutch with the US Ford GT, it's designed to handle the tremendous force of 550Nm of torque.

Auto fans can now option up to a ZF 6-speed high-torque automatic transmission with Sequential Sports Shift. This high-performance automatic gearbox offers the best of both worlds Its sequential shift system allows the driver to make fast, clean manual gear changes to maximize the available power for acceleration or quick downshifts. When in full auto mode, the adaptive shift system changes characteristics to suit your individual driving style.

Both transmissions are matched to a 2-piece tailshaft with shock-absorbing flex couplings, connected to a heavy-duty multi-plate limited-slip differential. Transmitting maximum power to the ground.

The power to stop is just as important as the power to go, so FPV engineers have developed a range of new Brembo brake packages that will stop you in your tracks. Brembos are the brand of choice for Formula 1, Ferrari, Porsche, AMG and Champ Car teams.

I just love these Aussis Fords! Ford really needs these in their N. America lineup.

If they would sell the Typhoon here in the US i'd pay cash for it tommorow. I've wanted one of those for a couple years now, and they just keep getting better looking.

much agreed, the headlights and bumper look kind of like that Ford Lynx

looks like enough room for giant FMIC

looks like a cross between the new charger and the gto. i think they all watched too much mad max down there :)

Why is this an "Aussie" phenomenon and not an American one as well? What the hell happened that we went from muscle cars to fleet cars? Something is seriously wrong in America if we don't have models like these...Damn it...That's it I'm moving to Australia!

* Update...I think they sell Holden's in Japan...Not sure about the Ford versions...
