Im extremely curious to those who have throwin a turbo in their protege 5... how the hell did u do it? i would really like to know? i mean im pretty sure u can just throw in a mazdaspeed turbo right??? but i mean how did u work out the ECU? and where did the turbo go?? im sure there are people out there who have a turbo in there protege 5... if u can tell me how ya did it and how long the processes took that would be awesome... if it was harder then ever and u never recommend anyone to ever do it... i'd like to know!!! so please for those people who have one gimme a shout ok thanks!

HiBoost, BEGI... there are numerous kits out there, you can just get a custom turbo together but that usually is a project for people with an overabundance of 1 of 2 things:
1. money (for when it blows up)
2. knowledge (this isn't the first time they've done it)

Well i chose to go larger than a mazdaspeed turbo..the t25..is very small..and will not flow as much air as my t3!chicana28 said:
Well turbo went directly infront of the exhuast..look a my sig..there is a pic of my setup!
The install to a long time..about 12hrs! (that was for the non intercooled setup)
When my intercooler was installed it took another 8hours!
My kit is completely custom though..most people who buy kits already fit to the protege take about 8-12hrs..depending on knowledge of a turbo system!
about the ecu..i went with a piggy back..it controls my a/f & timing! Very easy to use...

acidbbg, i am curious why you staged out your install.. ie. intercooler later? was it just a cost thing, or did you not think you would need it and then later decide you did? Also, if its okay with you, how much did it cost you total, roughly? if you were to do it again, would you get a 'kit' or do it custom?

Read up in the forced induction section. More than enough info there to answer your questions. So much info there that I decided to purchase the FM kit and expect to be installing it in a couple of weeks. Do your homework and you should be able to get all the info you need to make an informed decision.

I did it in sections..b/c i am on a very tight budget..and didn't have enough money...jasinski said:

the cost is well over $4k!
If i were to do it again..i would have taken more time to save..and purchase a complete kit!

hes an immature *** that cant appreciate people learning (im sure he was always knowledgable with his nice flame decals and whatnot..not a ricer - never!).
he always talks with exclamation points, and as he calls me stupid - i regularly talk to over 3-4 people who just shake their head or post funny smileys when i mention his name.
