I have the UDP on my truck, and they made a noticeable difference at install... I know comparing a domestic V8 and a Mazda 4cyl. is apples and oranges, but still...
It helped some, and was relatively cheap, but it did have a one strange downfall. I guess since it turned the alternator slower, my lights would dim when slowing down. I just bought a heavy duty alternator and solved that.
On the other hand, I have had the Chevy factory water pump for 133,000 miles (since 1989). 70,000 of those miles the pullies were installed. I think it actually helps to make the accessories last longer. Anyways, I would be interested to see how they helped the protege.
