The time has come to part ways with my beloved wagon. I can honestly say this has been my favorite car in my 20 years of driving.
I bought my P5 back in 2005 with the intention of using it as a daily driver and not modifying the engine or stereo. Wrong!!! Soon after buying the car I stumbled upon msprotege.com (now known as mazdas247.com) and my "intentions" went out the window. Like most of you on the forum I started simple but found myself somewhat addicted to making the car better and faster. I started with an IPod aux input then a Kartboy short shifter, Shaun Darbie shifter boot, gauge rings...the list goes on.
Three years ago I decided to go turbo and spent ALOT of time researching how to do it right including reading (and I strongly recommend) Corky Bell's book Maximum Boost. I desired to build the car to be reliable but fun.much to my wife's chagrin, I succeeded. I daily drove the car for over 2 years without a single problem. The car was very strong, stable and fast.
Insert problem here....several weeks ago I aggressively accelerated to pass a car between traffic lights. About 500 yards after passing the car the engine started to misfire, and then started ticking. I immediately killed the engine, coasted into a parking lot and had it towed home. While I'm not 100% sure, I think the problem is a bent valve or valve spring. Due to work and family, I don't have the time or energy to fix the car. My loss is your gain.
For Sale: $3500
Price includes everything including all aftermarket parts, most of the stereo equipment and some stock parts. I can take more pictures if requested. I am willing to have it towed within 150 miles or Franklin, TN. The turbo parts and stereo alone are easily worth $2500.
For now, please see my signature for mods list. I'll update it later with more specifics.
