footwell light

You could mount them underneath the seats for the same effect. My buddy put the neon sticks under the dash. I honestly think they were too bright (reflected in the windows). Being under the seat, you won't see them, and they'll be dimmer. I don't have pics of either, but under the seat looks better. Also you can use double sided tape if mounting to plastic. They're easy enough to move around though, so try a few locations out. Just make a clean install (meaning you can't see the bulbs themselves, or wires,...).

thanks for the suggestion. the problem with me is that i'm not too picky about "clean" installs, so i was just thinking about a cheap one that plugs into the cig outlet. of course i'd make sure i couldn't see the bulb and minimize wire mess...if there's actually an easy way to plug the wires directly into the fuse box so it'd turn on with the headlights, i'd do that

I installed mine with alligator ties.....they sit under the front dash areas. I have two neon tubes. To install them, i cut the cigarette adapters off, then joined the two tubes together. After that, i took the wires that i joined and sent them to a switch. With the switch, i attached another wire to it and shoved it in the map light fuse. Haven't had a problem since. The switch sits on one of the open slots on your left side (buy the change pocket). Took me all of 30 minutes....

P.S. I'll pst pics as soon as it gets warmer outside. I don't want to drag the digicam out when its minus 30.....maybe this weekend, i'll post you some pics

that fast? hmm, sounds kind of like a fun little project. any reason why you chose the map light fuse? i like the switch option, better than it coming on with the headlights all the time. i'll def do that. :D

I bought a two pack of 6" blue L.E.D.s that I mounted under the dash with double sided tape. They were already set up with one sig-lighter type plug with a switch.
I ran the wires up behind the center consol and dropped the wires through the hole under the ashtray into that empty space.

I plan on cutting the sig lighter switch and wiring them directly into the interior light switch.

This way they would only come on when the doors open or when I turn on the inside light.

I plan on getting a blue bulb for the interior light and keeping the map lights white.

Open the door and get a nice blue glow or turn on the interior light and get the same effect. This way I also wont have to have a blue reflection in my face all the time either.

I'd like to get another set to put under the front seats facing rear to light up the back seat floor.
My final plan for interior is another one inside my bandpass box that is wired to the light in the hatch. Open the hatch and the light comes on from inside the box.

I already have neon in my box that is wired to the amp to come on with the stereo but I don't always have the stereo on when I'm loading groceries at night and that little light in the rear is well kind of dim.

I'm sorry, I'm a complete newb to that.

Would it be hard to wire so that my neons light go on whenever I turn the headlights on? Or is it easier to wire them so that they are always on?

i think as long as you know what each fuse does in the fuse box near your left foot on the driver's side, it's not that hard. you should just have to gather the wires and use something that allows you to stick them in there. what i need, i'm not quite sure yet. but yea, stick it in the headlight fuse and i think it'll come on only when the headlights are on. stick them in the maplight fuse with a switch on it and you can turn it on and off like the map lights. i might be using the word "fuse" wrong but yea....
thanks for the pics 02-zoom. that gives me a good idea of where i can put them. it looks like it fits rather well underneath the railing. how long is that by the way? 9"?
rednecks: do 6" rods light up well? i dont want it to be too dim. altho too bright would probably be worse. under the dash vs. under the seat would probably have a different effect too.... o_O

Well its 9pm Arizona time so I need to get ready for work. I just took some pics and I'll post them tomorrow.

Later,

Bill

I've hooked them up to a switch to a 12v source. I turn them on whenever I want and normally leave them on all the time except when parked in the garage. It looks good from outside and it gives the car a nice cool blue feeling. They're not so bright that they blind you, its just nice. I've got them in the foot well under the dash. They're not visible, just the glow is.

I'll try and grab some pics.

I hooked mine to a switch, and connected the negative to a ground screew (any screw or bolt that connects to the body of the car), and the positive wire to the dash fuse in the fuse box... just wrap the exposed wire around the tip of the fuse and jam it in... only problem is if you blow the fuse like i did, my guages didnt work... but i just got a new fuse plugged it in and away you go! have fun and if you have any questions PM me or post them!

here's an elementary question...which fuse is the headlight fuse in the fuse box? looking in the manual for the designated fuses, i can't find it...is it only in the fuse block under the hood?

bro screw all that. buy a quad cig adaptor then splice into the cig lighter put a switch in then plug all your cig adaptors into the quad that you can hide in the dash. what i did looks clean

and while i'm at it, when people say they've run the wires behind the console or from the back of the cig lighter, can i assume that they took the interior apart to do that?

and those of you who stuck the wire into the fuse, how did you hide the wire? i mean you didn't just stick it in from the opening by your foot and put the panel back on did you?

that's what i thoought....so how can i get the wire there? damn, i need a long wire...and somehow thread it into the engine bay...can i do it? i think i'll just stick to the inside fuse box.. :p
