This is my first post, I just bought my P5 yesterday. Im going 5k HIDs for my lows and i want to tint my fogs yellow. Couple of questions I have; 1. Should I use film or spray. 2. Where do I buy the film and how big are the foglights. 3. Will the lights show on the road as yellow or just the normal off-white halogen color.

P.s. Bare with me I'm 16

Congrats on the purchase. And there are several people on here with the yellow film on their fogs so this should be no problem for you to get some help. And welcome to the forums.(hi)

If you want to go the film route, one of the places to get it would be Lamin-X.

$18 + shipping and it's really easy to install since they're pre-cut. You just need to spray soapy water on the sticky part to apply...and the process is very forgiving. I had it on my Mazdaspeed3 and it looked great. The light emitted was pretty yellow, but I also had yellow fog bulbs too.

As Hank suggested you can buy the lamin-x or you can contact Jackelope. He is an AV here and sells Xpel brand overlays. I bought smoked overlays for my fogs and couldn't be happier. The quality is far better than Rockblocker (ask me how I know). Or you could buy some PIAA bulbs which would give you that yellow look while off and would provide a much better output than stock bulbs thru an overlay.

how do you know!?!?! (shady)

Thanks Everybody

I think I'm going to go the lamin-x route due to the fact that they are precut. I appreciate everyones responses, its a nice welcome to the forums.

Carter do you know if they fit because ive read multiple posts that said people have to cut their fog housings to accommodate the HID bulbs. I'm all for hids but the way people on these forums make it sound they are a HUGE paint in the ass to install. I just ordered my 5k lows for ddm, any input on the installation of the hid fogs would be appreciated.

my passenger side fog has a small chip on the inside of the housings idk if you want it

is there a guide somewhere on how to fit an HID into the stock foglight housing?

^ As I said in the FS thread, the lens could be swapped out.

I did a small write up of what I did in the DDM thread, somewheres around page 17. I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

Heres a condensed version of how to do it. There are 2 things that need to be done.
1. Bend the little aluminum piece that keeps the bulbs from shining upward. Just shove a screwdriver and it will bend very easily, you just need to bend it enough so your bulbs will fit into the housing without touching anything. Youll see what im saying when you go to put the bulbs in the first time.

2. The back end of the hid bulb is going to stick out farther than the back of the foglight assembly. I just drilled out a hole big enough for it to fit through.

Thats the only modification you need to do. Im my opinion definitely worth it because of how much extra light it throws directly around the car and to the sides. Great for those windy roads.

I love my lamin-x covers. Super easy to put on and they've held up great all summer!
