Fog Light Questions.............

Well, I would be careful taking advice from them as they didn't even bother to look at the car. There is no "Fake" bulb. Remove the access hatch on the passenger side unit and look for yourself. Zip, zero, nada, nothing. You can reach in and touch the lens.

Is it the same lens? I just heard a rumour that on non-Sport equipped models that it is plastic, and would melt if you ever put a bulb in it. Any truth to this? BTW, you work at a dealership or something? You seem to have alot of insight on this, which is always appreciated! Also, welcome aboard!!!:D

I haven't a clue if it's glass or plastic, the same or different than a Sport. I would suspect that it's the same so that Mazda only has to stock one part.

As for insight... no, just that I installed the Mazda lower fog kit myself. There was a problem between the kit wiring setup and my car (early build#). So buy the time I was done I was very acquainted with the wiring for the fogs on my car.

Ohh, that makes sense. Did you think about just doing the ones in your headlights? Just wondering, was your kit affected in the recall since it was a purchased accessory? Didn't know if Mazda had to cover those or not.

I'd just like to be able to turn the switch and have the fogs without having the headlights on.

It was easily done in the Protege5's. But, the switch was not built into the stalk, it was a button. I am sure it is possible if it is anything like the Protege5, you just have to find the relay and figure out the wiring underneath the dash.

I really like the looks of the lower fogs, so I didn't want the uppers. Yes, they are part of the recall.

The Protege Fog light switch will fit in the 6 as well if you want to wire it up that way.

If I can find some time, I'm going to try to wire up the fog lights on the "sport switch", which I ordered. So, I'll have the switch, but I still need to investigate the bulbs and such. Been kind of waiting to see if someone else would solve this for me. . .I'm not feeling that ambitious any more. . .

so has anyone put any kind of bulb in that lense yet or have any pics of someone that has done something with it??

I just got my new light switch with the fog light switch on it (the sport package switch). I'll install it soon and see if I get lucky, otherwise, I'll have to do some fancy sparky crap.
