Fog Light Dash Indicator?

When acquiring post apocalyptic vehicle be sure to pick one up pre-electronic ignition (early 70's) to avoid any issues related to an EMP. :-)

A person who is good on twisting people's opinion has spoken again. Now he is a king of this community and can decide which topic is meaningful and who is the tag team poster. Those who got tagged shall be banned for life from this community according to this higher authority!

There's only one person twisting peoples words here. I'll leave it to you to figure out who it is.

Apparently the king of this community is not interested in this boring fog light indicator subject, hence he declared this five-page-long discussion is meaningless and people should find better things to do! We all shall obey the king and stop the discussion of this matter here immediately!

Mazda is crazy in some aspects. Pennies saved in dash indicator but lot of bucks in lights which turn with steering! Go figure. I have it and don't even know what it does and how it's helping. I am 100% fine without it and it for me adds zero value.
To be frank: My family does NOT like the car, I do. There are these multiple small, small things which just add up, in interiors and I don't assume it would have inflated the cost a lot to have them. Let's see:

1. No power seat for passenger
2. No memory seats
3. Non heated side mirrors
4. Non heated rear (especially when leather) seats
5. No light in glove box
6. No rear fog lights
7. No rear vents
8. No rear reclining seats, little bit
9. No temp display for coolant just some lights
10. Lack of power points:12v/110v
11. No footwell lights
12. Difficult to use buttons being non lighted, driver side
13. Useless coin holder cubby

To be fair, how can you claim its a useless feature if you don't even know how its working? Have you driven your CX5 at night? If so, I can't fathom how you haven't noticed the lights moving along with the steering. Further, if it seemingly adds zero value, why did you pay extra for the Tech package? Maybe you just like the lights (which would be a fair thing to say)?

Either way, I'll take dynamic handling any day of the week over no footwell lights. A lot of your other missing items listed don't really bother me, but you do have heated mirrors and rear vents (under the front seats).

Oregon Fog Light Law...

I find this to be inadequate as running fog lights along with headlights in Oregon is illegal.

I didn't know that. It would seem that running both in certain foggy situations would be a better (safer) solution than one or the other... but not both.

I have owned a number of vehicles with OEM foglights but none of them seem to add substantial illumination to the pavement in front of the vehicles. At best they seem to increase the illumination to the side of the vehicle just a smidgen, but nothing very dramatic. Maybe you need to go to aftermarket fogs if you really need the light. The tiny fogs on the '16 CX 5 seem more useless than most.

Good article! It should be required reading before obtaining a license to drive.

Safe to say than the 16 cx5 fog lights are purely cosmetic. Well, for the tech package version.

Regardless, they do look good at least.

Um, no. They light up the road edges close to the car. Good for pea-soup fog, not much else.

Leave them off during normal weather. Otherwise it's like saying "'Hey, look at me! I'm an idiot".
