FMIC/Fuel Cut Defender Question

I have someone locally selling a TurboXS FMIC which he said he ran with a Cobb SRI with no fuel cut defender. I was wondering if this sounds ok to you guys and possibly how you guys are running your FMICs. I have a CPE CAI so I should notice a lil bit of a diference than his setup right? Will I have problems with fuel cut? Also is a fuel cut defender the only or best way to combat the fuel cut? Can you use one of those ECU programmer things maybe? & if so, which one are you using? I'm not skilled enough to tune an ECU myself though. Any input would be helpful. Thanks.
