Flat black???

I've seen a couple cars with matte black on the road. It just don't look right. Makes you want to put clear coat on it lol. Matte also reminds me when back in the day people would primer their Low Riders gray or brown and left it that way and put all the chrome/gold plated moldings and wheels on which I think matte looks better on LRs than they do on any other vehicles.

Matte =/= flat. You are thinking of a flat finish.

To the OP, I think matte would look awesome on this car, as the posted pictures demonstrate, but a flat finish would look terrible imo.

Lol...I guess that's the beauty of having the matte coat. You don't have to worry 'bout waxing, claying, & polishing. Just wash & your good to go.

Matte

I think the matte finish looks great on certain cars, and as a bonus, matte generally hides imperfections MUCH better than a glossy finish (though I've never owned a matte finished car so I can't really attest to this in real world conditions). I know BMW offered a limited amount of M3s with a matte grey finish that came with a LONG list of don'ts (e.g. don't wax, don't run through an automatic car wash, avoid strong rubbing (personal favorite)) which would seem to contradict the 'matte is easy to live with' attitude that I expected would be the case. Also where some cars look great in a matte black, some look strange. Like the aforementioned M3, when done up in a light grey matte I think it looks great, but in straight black I think it looks like cheep plastic.

The pic Kindred posted looks like it might not be a straight black (that could be the picture playing tricks tho) but maybe a dark grey like an 80% grey or something. I think that would look quite sharp, especially if you get enough a variation between that color and the black plastic already on the car. Someone also mentioned resale value which would definitely take a hit with this paint job but I think the car would look great and it would certainly stand out on the street. There are so few matte finished cars out there that when you see one it really stands out.

Silver looks better and is easier to take care of IMO..but its your car, so do what you want to with it. I also agree that it will be a hard sale when you go to get rid of the car later on down the road.
