flamthrower kit

i know i only have one picture of it, but i'll get some videos up online so you can check it out. i know it's basically a worthless mod, but it was fun to do with some spare parts from my friend's Accord motor swap. let me know what you think.

you need-
*long plug wire, usually from a v8
*ignition coil, mine was from an F22 Accord motor
*spark plug
*12 gauge wire
*switch

-you tap the signal wire going into one of your ignition coils, and run it to your switch.
-run the other lead of the switch to the negative (-) side of your extra ignition coil, i mounted mine in the trunk
-run the positive (+) side of the ignition coil to a switched ignition power source, i used my remote amp turn on (since i don't have an amp on my aftermarket HU)
-i ran the plug wire from the extra coil down through the drain hole in my trunk
-use a 1" hole say in the muffler piping, right before the tip so it isn't visible from the back or side
-i went to Home Depot and got a nut to thread onto the spark plug, and just tightened it into the muffler piping. connect the plug wire

-now, when you flip the switch or push a momentary button whichever you use it cuts spark from 2 cylinders and dumps fuel into the exhaust. the signal wire fires the coil in your trunk, and the plug will ignite the excess fuel. just rev it up to about 3k and let off and as it idles down it'll blow out. i'm sure it isn't really beneficial for the turbo to have the fuel run through it though, so if anyone decides to do this be careful with it. also, i've cut down intervals between oil changes in case there is any blowby into the crankcase. i'm sure some fuel does get in there, so again, be careful.

**when you install the plug, DO NOT put it before the muffler. i've had it suggested to me so the wire and plug is more concealed, but i have a funny feeling a muffler will not last long with that kind of open flame running through it. common sense should prevail, but you never know..

alot of companies make a flamthrower kit that you only have to wire it in much like i did and it uses a relay box so it only takes every other spark, and all kinds of other methods so the flame is bigger, but they range in price from $45 or so all the way up to $150. For 3 bucks, i think my flame is pretty big... i wasn't looking to break the bank, and i only wanted something that looked cool. i spent 3 bucks for 2 spark plugs and everything else was free. keep in mind i have a hollowed cat and Apex'i muffler, so there isn't much that i can damage in my exhaust either.

I really wish I had one of these when someone is riding my ass....

I need to look into this just for that reason.

BAHAHA same here. Nice mod but I would be too afraid to ruin my turbo with the extra fuel goin in there.

Yeah It would be worth the risk because me and about 3 other people in my car were almost killed my someone riding my ass and trying to run me off the road. Dude was in a weak ass sunfire ... and I would lose him in traffic .. but traffic was heavy ... not much opportunity to weave he would get on my ass like a serious inch away I actually thought he hit me for a second but he didn't. I would have given anything to just try and flame that dude into getting off of my ass.

Well well the msp would have destroyed him if the traffic would allow weaving. Its just there was cars beside each other in every lane blocking ... well what can you say ... new orleans is crazy ...

any chance the flame hits the bumper?

ive wanted to do this for a while but don't wana melt my rear bumper

yeah, i've had it hit the bumper a few times but i've never had it show any sign of damage. the worst that's ever happened is that i had to wipe carbon off the skirt. there have been some serious ones where i'll get about 10 seconds worth of continuous flame 3 to 8 feet out the back of the car, and it'll just leave a smear of black. it's never damaged anything. i'm sure it would clog a cat in no time at all, but i've got none so it wasn;t a problem. i got my kit from www.eatmyflames.com

These flamethrower kits are not the best idea... D'ont forget when you cut ignition to feed the flamethrower, essentially you are injecting gas in to the cylinders. In turn the gas also gets to the rings, and as we know gas is not a good lubricant...

With time essentially you will be washing your cylinder and scoring the walls beacuse of the gasoline...

Use at your own risk!

not everybody wants to buy a fuel cell to put in the trunk JUST for this y'know ... lol

old thread but 1 question... couldnt you just run power to a switch then out the switch to the + coil then from the negative side of the coil to ground? And attatch the spark plug on the the coil plug wire and put it somewhere on the exhaust tip? Our cars run really rich anyways and without a cat wouldnt there be enough unburnt fuel fuel there anyway to make a little flame? The reason im asking is becasue i dont like the idea of cutting spark to the cylinders and flooding them with gas.
