ok.. after i put my cold air intake on i realized i had a crack in my hot pipe.. i got a replacement and now since my car has been running better.. when i goto get on it and start accelerating god and let off the gas and switch into neutral.. for some reason the rpms drop ALL THE WAY DOWN to like 200 or sometimes like 0.. today it dropped to 0 and died right in the middle of town.. but it happened to start right back up.. and its fine untill i get to like 5000 rpms and push in the clutch and bpv goes off.. and shift to neutral or watever.. n e one know why this is or how to fix???

yes this is called a vacuum leak. means you either didn't hook up the hot pipe correctly, ripped up a vac hose while working on your car, or broke something else. reset your ecu first, and see if the problem still exists. then proceed to troubleshoot by seeing if all your pipes are connected properly (required tools: eyes), and if they are see if there are any ruptured vacuum hoses, or if you forgot to connect one.

and ears. sometimes you can't see it... but you can hear it. sounds like hissing air. you just gotta listen very closely.... over the rest of your engine noise. lol. do you have a boost/vacuum gauge. sometimes a weak vacuum reading can mean there is a leak. Normal reading at idle should be about 20 Hg. When i had a leak, i was reading like 14-16 Hg. When i'm driving and shifting, my vacuum can get to like 22 Hg or so. But normal for our engines is 20.

yeah.. i was thinking this too!! because it only does it after the bpv goes off real good normally!! and i can hear it around 2000-3000 rpms sometimes!! sounds like a leak somewhere and im positive that its the problem!! so now my next ? is... what all hoses could it be really?

like whats the hose that comes from the motor to the cai.. could this be the problem?

i really havent noticed this (probably for the fact that its been raining real bad ever since i put on the new hot pipe)... but when im holding the gas down accelerating fast and change gears before the turbo even begins to spool.. the bpv still goes off just like it would when i change gears with the turbo spooling.. what hose could this be?

well, your turbo is continuously spinning. when you're "holding the gas down accelerating fast", you are spooling up the turbo. it will build a little bit of boost and when you change gears, your bpv will try to relieve it.

the hose can be any one of them. there are not that many lines, check all of them.

Did you hook up the MAF sensor in the right direction. If you put it on backward it CAN have this effect.

yeah its on right.. i mean i dont see how anyone could put it on backwards with the plug having to go into it and all ya kno?

but still it seems like its getting worse or something! it acts pretty much the same as it did with the intercooler leak! but its not an intercooler pipe leak! ive fixed that.. and it drove fine for a day or so!! couldnt really tell because it was raining BAD! but since it stopped it drove fine for awhile and now its back to being ****** up again :(

i need help and suggestions fast

i currently have the same problem when i get on it in 1st and then keep the clutch down it almost stalls. Where are the common vaccum leaks (pix-with circled would be awsome) ive looked over my engine and cant find anything im stuck!!!! HELP!!!

I am in philly, I can probably help you

Ok... listen up fellas... just like some others have posted here... YOU HAVE A LEAK... that is what is causing this. The leak could be in several places. I take it you have a boost gauge correct? If so, what are you boosting? Are you running the little crappy stock bypass valve? You say you here it?... are you talking about the turkey? because you can not hear the stock bypass valve... all it does is recirc air, it is not atmospheric.

The very simple first thing to do is go to your local Advanced Auto or whatever parts store you have and get new vaccum lines for your turbo and intake. Get about 3 feet of 3/16" and about 3 feet of 1/4 fuel line (it has cloth reinforcements in it). Look at the bottom side of the wastegate coming off the turbo and you will see where the stock vaccum line is attached with a little crappy 90 degree connector. Pull that off and trace that line up to your intake manifold. Pull that off as well. All of that needs to be replaced. When I did mine, the intake manifold seemed to be a little smaller in size which I why I tell you to get the 2 sizes of line. I would also grab a 3/16 to 1/4 barbed reducer just in case you need it. This line is very simple to replace. Keep in mind... YOUR CONNECTIONS MUST BE TIGHT AND SEMI-HARD TO GET ON or you have the possibility of a vaccum leak. I have a manual boost controller and I thought I put everything on tight and I still had a leak so it can happen. I could hear mine though and was able to find it easily.

There are other places that leaks can occur also... which would be your hard pipes or stock pipes etc... obviously you already know the stock plastic ones crack easily.

One other thing it could be is your wastegate actuator. A friend of mine local here with an MSP had this issue. His would idle like crap etc and we can actually hear his wastegate leaking so it is going in the shop this week to hopefully get replaced under warranty.

...also check the intake pipe connection that is on the turbo to ensure it is seated correctly and tight as well... I don't have pictures for you but if you need them I would be glad to walk outside and snap a few...

Hope this helps... this is all taken from my personal experience... been there done that type crap... (cool)
