This is a very old problem with p5s, 3rd gens, and msps. I never seemed to find a solution but have gotten some tips on making the noise go away (greasing the slave cylinder boot). If you have this problem hopefully this will help.
Problem: Whenever the clutch pedal is depressed, there would be slight resistance in addition to a "click" or "creak" noise coming from the engine bay. This occurs all the time regardless of whether your engine is running or not, regardless of whether you were in gear or not.
Took it into the dealer do get this fixed along with the vics screws recall.
I didn't get a chance to talk to the mechanic, but this is what my invoice says:
CUST STATES CLUTCH PEDAL NOISY
CAUSE:
REPAIR CLUTCH RELEASE CYL PUSHROD
From the service manual this is what I found:
After I got it back, the resistance is still there, but the noise is gone. So I guess problem solved!
