First speeding ticket in the MS3

MS3 - sport
So I have been driving it since March 2007, and I have always been a fairly fast driver. Not aggressive per se, but certainly --- shall we say --- offensive. I don't use a radar detector (I hate them... I have got a speeding ticket every time I have ever used one.) because they don't work very well, and they lull you into a false sense of security. I say keep your eyes peeled, look for likely "spots", check your mirrors, and remember almost any unmarked car could be a cop --- so always give it a solid look before you blow by.

Anyway, two state troopers (marked) were working in a pair and I got nailed. I saw one, caught him in time --- but he called ahead to his buddy (I assume) and I got it 1/4 mile down the road when I sped back up.

Oh well, I haven't had a ticket in 6 years, so I am going to go to court, plead guilty with an explanation and everyone tells me I will get a PBJ. (No points!)

Here is to paying better attention next time...

Sorry to hear that man. I'm due for one any day now because my luck will run out sooner or later, I'm sure. I don't drive like a maniac, but on an open stretch of road I will get into it from time to time.

I agree with you on the radar detector thing. When I had one years ago I got 2 tickets because I depended on it too much. I prefer to just use common sense these days.

You are right my friend! in my 17 odd years of driving, I have used three different radar detectors and I got nailed in a matter of days or weeks with each one. Without using a radar detector, I average one about every 5 years. Cops that pulse you (with a laser or otherwise) are going to nail you everytime. These guys aren't stupid.

Well, again, let's hope for the PBJ, otherwise it is 2 points for me!

Every detector I've ever owned has paid for itself many times. If I'd had the Bel 995 in the 300C, I'd have avoided the last ticket I got.

Pretty much everyone on the freeway goes 85+ but it's mostly local country road driving for me so radar detector+++!!! My car stands out from most of the redneck trucks around here!

I don't speed much but I tend to get to the limit with the tires smoking more often than not!

I'm using a 8500 X50 and it has saved my ass many times.... but there are also times I've been cops out WITH GUNS IN HAND and not a peep..... laser ;)

but yeah.... drive smart. know where they hang out and keep your eyes open for mobile officers. thats the best way to do it

If I'm elected president, I'd have much stricter license tests, much longer learning periods.........and raise all major highway speed limits to 75!

or move to georgia, we have something called georgiabahn

and the biggest cornfed troopers I ever did see. I'm not a skinny feller but I got pulled over by a Bryan County's finest that made me look like Dick Gregory. He made me happy all I was getting was a speeding ticket.

With radar detectors you get what you pay for. But I do agree that they can lead to a false sense of security so I also keep my eyes peeled and am very careful about where I speed. The detector is certainly a nice compliment though, and have more than paid for itself. It's also helps that 99% of the cops around here user radar :).

My first ticket in this car was what prompted me to get the detector in the first place. Two cops behind some bushes with a radar gun. I was so friggin pissed I didn't get one earlier. Definitely the best $200 I've spent.

Who is Dick Gregory??

Yeah Georgia typically isn't a place you want to get cought speeding in.

That does suck but its not as bad as what happened to me.

I think I had the car for a total of like 30 minutes and I got pulled over for speeding (even tho I was going with the traffic) and switching lanes without using the turn signal.
On top of that I didn't have a license with me because I left it at the dealership for collateral for a title on my old car. At least the cop was nice enough and understood that I left the license there, so no ticket for that but the $75 speeding one was sucky.
