First real noise from my car

I just turned 30k on my 2008.5 speed 3, and started to notice a strange noise when first taking off. It's almost metallic sounding, a ting of sorts when you first take off, I can't hear if it does it when shifting between gears due to road noise, Just wondering if anyone else is getting this. Everything about the car seems normal otherwise, no engine codes, idles and runs just like new. Is a noise on takeoff indicative of a rear sway link issue? I can't put my finger on the culprit. I was wondering if something like an exhaust hanger has been known to cause this issue?

I need to get under it and take a look, maybe I will just drop it by the dealership and let them figure it out.

We I verified today that the engine seems snugly connected, so a mount issue is unlikely. I can pop the hood and try to force the engine to move and it seems very stiff, no obvious slop, bolts and connections look good. I did notice when I turn the air off and the radio off, and get on and off the throttle in any gear I can hear a noise during the transition, so something is moving around when power is applied. Also noticed quite a bit of throwout bearing noise when clutch is up and idling in neutral.

Problems seems to have come from nowhere, and last thing done was oil change, come to think of it, the guys @ the lube place were under there for quite a while. Wonder if they fawked something up.....

I think I have the same thing on mine. I notice it mainly when I am going down side streets with the windows down and I hit a bump. I figure something is just loose but have yet to get under there and check things out.

Does the noise almost sound like a bearing noise? Has it happened when you turn the car off? If you say yes to both of them, I got a fix for you.

I can get it to make the noise in any gear, and taking off, once in a while I hear it when the engine shuts down, also can get it on bumps. Going to get the endlinks checked on at next service visit. Can't be too serious.

I found the cause of my noise. This likely will affect everyone who has a cobb short ram intake system installed. The bracket that holds the air intake to the battery tray causes undue stress on the battery tray, causing 2 spot welds and tabs to break off. I will be passing this along to Cobb to see what they have to say for themselves. Their bracket design is the direct cause for this. Fortunately my out of pocket wasn't as bad as it could be with some dealership service departments.

I have been hearing a similar noise (squeak) coming from up there too, and have been wondering if it was having to do with the intake. It only does it when I'm just starting to accellerate, under the first few gears. Is there a fix for the cobb bracket?

I am not sure outside of welding / reinforcing the mazda battery tray bracket. The cobb bracket doesn't break, it flexes and breaks the mazda bracket it mounts on. I wrote a letter to cobb tuning along with the repair invoice from mazda, as I feel they need to see what their poor design has done to mine and others cars due to using their product.
