First Drive: 2006 Honda Civic Si

Dude... I wasn't getting defensive. I was merely shooting holes in your argument! : ) Seriously though, you mentioned there not being any reviews on the Si. Meanwhile, ironically enough, you posted that on a thread that was started with a review of the car. go figure! the bottom line is, you asked why you should be interested in this car. now you're saying that you'll consider it for your next car. I guess there's some interest afterall.

I wonder is it possible to stick the optional skirts for the normal coupe onto the Si?

because this looks pretty sick

Damn! That looks pretty good!!Honda should have made that stock w/ the Si.

yeah, you are right.

But, this is one thing I complained about with all my Honda's. Their accessories are insanely priced.

By the time you get the SiR, add a skirt to it, some other odd things, I bet the price won't be so attractive then. Mazda would have, and has included the skirts and cosmetic stuff on their mazdaspeeds all along. The SiR is basically just a plain coupe with some bigger wheels on it...at least cosmetically on the outside. Oh, and that damn spoiler.

Hell,if I was in the market for a new car,I would but I'm not:(!!Sorry!

Newf,go that right,I mean the cost of the A-Spec kit for the RSX is like 4k on top of the price of the car which would come out to like 29 or 30K total.Might as well, get an Evo or base Z(w/ mods) w/ that money.

but that's the A-spec kit. Let's compare apples to apples here. Anyone know how much the ground effects cost for the new Civic? Let's not forget people, like everything else, these things are negotiable. Granted, it might not be so easy early on but that just means you'll have to sharpen up your negotiating skills that much more.

Newf, you make a good point about the sills... Honda definitely should have added them to the car. While they'll probably cost us at least.... I don't know, $800 maybe.. to put on, their cost, if added to the car during production, would be miniscule. Judging by the early reaction, the car looks 1000% better with them on. This should come as no surprise. Whenever I see a regular protege I'm like... is that really my car? Little things mean a lot. wheels, spoiler and of course ground effects can transform a boring car into a legend.

If I was considering this car, this option would be non-negotiable. That said, I'm now calling this car a $22k car. That's still a good deal... but not exactly the best overall value out there. 1sty's right, nothing beats the WRX in terms of bang for the buck. Having shopped these cars hardcore, however, 22 grand is a bit ambitious. If you're able to find a leftover 05 (which will most likely have a couple hundred miles on it... mostly from (gulp) test drives) without any options at all.... no premium w/heated seats and sunroof. no upgraded stereo and alarm. nunca!! I bet you can buy THAT car for about 22k and change... I for one wouldn't want it. not only for the obvious reasons but, if I'm gonna spend that kind of dough and the options I just mentioned are available (they weren't on the MSP so it's moot) I'm getting the options. That said, the car is really a $24 ('05) to $26+ ('06) ride. This... after some hardcore negotiating. That's still one helluva deal... but obviously in a different class than the Si.

Hey guys!I saw a new coupe yesterday at Ralph's.It looks kinda small.Reminded me of the Toyota Paseo from a couple of years ago.

it does look surprisingly small. I have not sat in it yet.

As for in Canada, the WRX will cost you a good 10 grand more. That's not pocket change, and places it up with the Mazdaspeed 6 range. You don't even want to know the retail of a STI in Canada.
