The luxury flagship wars are in full swing -- the BMW 7-Series is all-new for 2009, Jaguar just recently unveiled the new XJ, Mercedes-Benz has updated the S-Class for 2010, and now we're seeing what are reportedly the first shots of the 2010 Audi A8, expected to debut in January at the Detroit Auto Show.
Inside Line reports that the new A8 will have a very striking design, a lot of which comes from the Audi Sportback concept which debuted in Detroit last year. However, the Sportback's design will be more heavily noticed on the upcoming Audi A7 which will battle the Mercedes-Benz CLS. Power will come from a range of different engine choices, and an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission should find its way to the A8, as well.
