Fiber images makes the best hood !!!!

So last weekend my friend and I installed my new Fiber Images carbon Fiber hood . Despite looking sweet with a perfect fit it weighs nothing .This is what sets it far from the rest during installation my friends garage door dropped down and fell right in the middle of the hood !!!! his door is one of those old one piece wooden ones that weighs like 800lbs . There was silence as we looked at the garage just resting on the hood as we wondered if my 12lb hood was still alive . Well as we lifted the door we noticed that all there was a small scuff in the clear coat !!! and a little rubbing compound and the scuff was gone ! They may cost a little more $$$ but it's well worth it -Dan-

Yes, i love my hood. You can't beat the FI quality.

i have the same hood.. mine seems to have a gap on both sides? any idea how to fix this? also do any of you get a low rattle from the hood when you let your car idle?

I would highly suggest hood pins on the FI, mine flew up on my windshield, crack the s*** out of it, cracked the molding underneath and chipped the sides and the paint on the sides as well. But i got it fixed, but the molding i fiberglassed for the time being, until I get my VIS. Good looking hood though all in all.

Well I ordered the oem but FI didn't have any and didn't plan on making anymore for awhile. So I ordered the evo style but the guy from AIP is giving me a big discount on the price difference. The evo style should end up costing me about the same as the oem. I am just waiting for him to email me back today so I can get an idea of when it will come in.

EDIT: Did they send the grills with the hood, or am I going to need to make my own?

I have the APC Carbon fiber hood, and I get a pretty descent rattle at an idle. I was thinking of coating the underside with dynamat. I don't know.

jsahyoun: wouldn't the weight of the dynamat offset the weight loss of getting a CF hood in the first place?

All in all I am getting a great discount. I know our UPS guy pretty well from work so he is going to deliver my hood to my house even though I paid for business shipping. How did you mount the mesh under the hood, do you happen to have any pictures of the setup?

no i dont have pictures of it.... i had some bolt silicones in under neath and then we too the plex glass and monted it to the bolts. thats so if it gets nasty i can take it off and clean it.... but i just got a new scanner so i will have some awsome pictures of my graphics and i will get some better ones of the hood for you w/ the underneath of it....

I really didnt get the hood for the weight difference. Yes it is carbon fiber, but I like the look of it that is why I bought it!
Spend all that money just so your car is twenty pounds lighter geez. Go on a diet or something.
