Feels like the heat is always on!

Does anyone else feel like the heat is always on for the front seats of the cx-7? All the climate controls are turned off but i still have heat coming from the engine compartment. This is very uncomfortable! help!

I've noticed some very hot air coming through the upper air vents as if the heater was on when the auto-temp is set at 60 (the lowest) with the a/c compressor turned off, similar to a "vent" setting. I thought for a moment that I had turned the heat on. Outside temp was low 70's. This only happens when the car is not moving, like at a stop light. One the car starts moving again, it cools off some. I'm assuming with the above a/c settings the "vent" is pulling in engine heat. I'm taking my CX7 in on Friday to have the oil changed and the turbo lag corrected and I'll ask my service advisor about this condition and post what he says about it.

I agree! I have everything turned off and it feels at times that the heat is pouring through the floor vents. Then at times it feels like its coming from the defrogger vents as my face is pummled with heat.

Just residual heat from your engine bay. It is most pronounced if you drive for a bit and then do a quick stop off, say at the 7-11 and get a drink and then get back in and start up the vehicle. If you have the a/c going all th time (here in so cal) then you will not notice it. (obviously)

i usually never use the AC in my cars, windows roof and vents were basically all i needed, but man, the ventilation in the 7 sucks, unless its around 50 degrees or so outside, anything hire is just heat thru the open air vents, i can actually get the car cooler by closing the vents and opening the windows on a warm/hot day.

Maybe it has to do with those with the auto climate controls.

My car has no such heat problems. When the vent is off I get no hot air bleeding in. But it does not have the auto climate controls.

I do notice that on start up on a hot day it takes a moment or two of driving before the vents seem to blow ambient temp air.

Maybe the air intake for the interior vents is near the turbo or exhaust portion of the engine bay and gets heated up.

I wonder if there are any TSBs on this problem?(scratch)

I had my climate control turned all of the way down to 65 with the A/C off and fresh air turned on. It was around 75 outside and the air comming out of the vents was HOT. It felt like the heater was on.

I turned on the A/C for a couple of minutes too cool down the incomming air. I then turned off the A/C and went back to just fresh air and no longer had the hot air comming thru the vents for the rest of the trip.

hot air

I too have found the air from the vents is very warm after a quick stop. I just turn on the air for a bit and then it cools down. I wonder if it has to do with the turbo....

I have noticed the hot air coming in too. It bothers me but, I just turn the AC on for a little while.

Wow! I can't imagine NOT using it...! :)

If I don't use my A/C on the way to work, I'm sweating before I get to the office. Sucks being in a suit & tie and being sweaty before 10:am.

:)
