Feeler Thread: Forge dual-piston BOV

Okay, I am definetly IN for this, you can remove the tenative from my name.

what are the advantages to this compared to other bpv or bov's? we still might stall, correct? I'm not talking trash, I'm actually interested. Just tryin to get a better handle on this.

From what i experience you will stall or get a RPM drop shifting into neutral from high RPM or after heavy throttle. Just downshift or shift into Neutral below 2500-2000 rpm. I just recommend playing around with it. The 1st day I got it, I stalled that night and played around with it. Now I got it for about a week and havent stalled yet. Its not a problem at all.

Form what I understand teh Forge BPV is just a direct replacement for the stock cheap plastic Denso BPV.

What I noticed from the bOV gives the speed better...throttle response. Like the turbo responds better. And not to mention it sounds nice with a Injen...if you like the turkey. Again..Im working on sound clips...but dont have a camera yet. Hopefully they will be up this weekend or early next week...MSP+Injen+Forge BOV. :)

I dont hear a whoosh sound. i hear a louder turkey that flutters longer. With the hood open it doesnt flutter as much. When I get clips up it will explain. I know Cory has the woosh sound and people with stock setup sounds similar to ryans clip.

DONE...if you get the Blitz, won't you be paying more & still recirculating?

I just PMed the 9 people who are still on my original thread list.
yeah, i'll prolly end up paying more for it, but it's ok. recirculating or not...doesn't really matter to me. i think i'd like to recirculate though, just to keep my car happy :). plus, i dunno any other msp running one, so i'll be unique :D

Yeah i recently heard a Blitz Dual drive up close and it sounds nice. Although I heard Apexi makes the best dual drive BOV.

I just spoke to Tom & they are definately considering the SMIC now that I told him these is a lot of interest. The main things they need to look at are the fabrication (since the main company is based in England) & what type of pipes/hoses they would use in which locations. Right now, he said it would probably be an IC core that fits in the stock location & uses the stock piping route, but replaces it with a thicker, more efficient core & harpipes/silicone hoses/combo of both. Price should be around $600, but that is just an estimate. Here is the link to a similar unit (same price & hopefully similar power increase) that Forge makes for the GTI 1.8T:

Lastly, this is the link for the SMIC that was supposed to be produced aeons ago by either Mazdaspeed or Protosport (to give you an idea of what this thing might look like):

Not to leave out the BOV news...he said they currently have 12 hoses, which would be the limiting factor on how many they can sell right now. David & Wild, I asked about Canada & we should be able to do what I told you about. He needs to check with George, but we will have a final price on Monday. It will probably be what I guessed, but I don't want to repeat any #s until then.

Cool! Thanks for the update!

If there are different color hoses available I want blue hoses with mine if possible like in some of the pics.

Is the BPV availible? Is there any difference in it and the stock? If its alot better then stock i'll get one.

Yes, it's available...I had it on my car for several months before switching to the BOV. It is basically a direct replacement for the stock BPV, made out of metal instead of plastic. My BPV leaked, which is why I wanted to replace it. There was a minor improvement over stock, but compared to the BOV, it's hardly even noticeable. The other thing to consider is that they are nearly the same price, so for like $30 more (I don't know the exact difference) you can have the BOV instead.

OK, we have 10 people, that's a good #. Tom is going to set out the hoses to make sure they have what they need. All of the hoses will be black to match the stock materials, so you don't get a choice there, but they do have the valves in several colors. Mine is polished, but right now they currently have red, blue, & black. They are getting another shipment of valves very soon & there may be some polished units in there. What I need is for everyone to please list what color valve you would like so we can wrap this up. Check out the pic to see all 4 valve colors.
