Feeler Thread: Forge dual-piston BOV

Come on people, I think if we had sound clips it would interest more people, I'm in anyway, but all everyone has been told is, "it makes the turkey sound followed by a whoosh" :)

Kelvin: My BOV has the wastegate line connecting on the top like Cory's, so I guess you got the new MSP-specific design. I can guarantee that this will make installation a lot easier for the rest of you. Like I said, I am currently running the green spring, but you said you switched from blue to gold (yellow). Yellow is in between blue & green (the lowest), so maybe you should ask them about switching again.

jrodhotrod: As the only person I know of who has used both, I can tell you that the BOV is definately a big step up from the BPV.

03MSP: When I call Forge tomorrow, I will see if I can get an actual price for these, but right now you're looking at under $160 shipped. When I got home from school tonight, it was already dark out, so I wasn't able to get any pics or vids. I will get these first thing tomorrow morning & I'm confident you'll really like what you hear.

So what about the different color springs?

Can we get a breakdown of what the differences are and how to know which one we should use. Does the BOV come with multiple springs?

The differences are the spring rates...higher rate for higher boost. I'm at 6.5psi (never got all the way there till exhaust) & I'm using the green spring. Someone like Discreet would need a different spring. It will probably just come with the one you need...I'll add this to my list of things to find out about.

i'll be interested...i just hope i can convince someone to get me an early birthday present :D but it should be definately lower than $160 right black majik ? it'll be easier to convince this person if the price is lower than that...looks like a great product !

oh yeah, i'm also curious where the vacuum line is sourced from. i'll probably have to tee in from another spot, right ? 'cause i'm already using the tee from the BPV to wastegate for my MBC

Just get a Golden Eagle Vacuum manifold and use it for all your vacuum sources. That way everything gets a stable line and it's a nice touch in the engine bay. They are on sale for $35 here (Mine is on it's way):

They just did a little write up on them in the last turbo magazine in their new products section or something like that and they had good things to say.

Good info! Looks like I'll be getting the spring kit with mine as I'll probably be running stock boost or close to it 8 psi with FMIC and 3" turbo back until I get EMS then it's up with the boost. :D

there is a sound clip in the original "Forge BOV" thread...but its not all that clear cuz of cory's exhaust. I should be making a clip soon. I have the injen CAI which makes it super loud.

Here is that clip of Cory's Forge BOV (original tester)

you cant really hear the turkey but I can assure you it makes the turkey sound.

They do sell spring kit but I think the one that came from the new BOV was the Blue EVO spring and he said it was too tight so he switched to the gold spring. I'll call today to find out if my stalling issues are related to the gold spring. When I talked to tom they said it was going to be $160...so I assume the GB would be cheaper. He said that the side wastegate nibble is a new design and yes it makes it easier to install. The BOV comes with all the hoses, clamps and etc needed to be installation. I'll get back to you guys on this "sprign"" problem. Time to pay forge a little visit and see if good ole tom and Goerge can solve this problem. But again its not a big deal.

I think you can use the same T...it directly replaces the BPV. All Tom did was take my BPV off and installed the BOV...it took him like 10 minutes. But as I said before...becareful. The plastic flange is brittle and epoxied on. If you have a Injen its a tight fit so be sure to trim it right. It rests perfectly on the CAI. But be sure not to have the BOV touch the plug on top...so it doesnt hit it when blowing off.

That sound clip doesnt work for me. I am still interested in this but can someone post the soundclip again? IM sure everyone would like to hear it.

update: Just called Tom at Forge...he said he'll look into the stalling problem but said dont be suprised if it stalls while shifting into neutral at high RPM...MAF sensors tend to do that. Its not a great idea to shift into neutral at high RPM or high boost on a MAF equiped car. He said TurboXS did some study and it pretty much yeilded the same results...The Mitsubishi EVOVII also has a MAF sensor. Just downshift or pop into neutral when your under 2000 RPM. Again...its not a huge problem...just get use to it. For everyone that get this BOV I suggest you play around with it.

Okay...the spring everyone should have in their Forge Dual Piston BOV is the Green spring, which is the softest. He said he'll look at my car this thursday and hes interested in seeing if they can get around my stall problem. what Im confused is that everyone who tested the BOV didnt mention anything about stalling. Maybe just diffrent driving style. "Granny shifting, not double clutching like youre suppose to" in Vin desiel voice from F&F...ha

Sound Clips: Well, im pretty much busy all week and weekend so I cant get any sound clips till next week. I'll try my best to post it.

About the other sound clip 03speed (cory)...I have that clip if anyone is interested. Hypnotized said the link is down. I just need a place to host the clip.

Hey it sounds good, like a turkey blow. So we talking like 150 or less maybe... (peep)

Now we just need to hear what it sounds like with the CAI :D

Really, come on, where did all of the interest go? This is an incredible deal!

Try bumping the old thread that everyone else posted too, I miss stuff all the time because I don't get to spend a ton of time just browsing.

I looked through the original thread & I know there are other people who said they would be interested in this. Please show your interest in the BOV or any other product that Forge is considering so we can get this stuff made.
