so I've been averaging 1 modification per month on my car. I figured I might as well stick with it... not that it has to be anything crazy, but what would you get next? current mods in sig. I'm thinking either the ETS intercooler or the forge bypass valve. or maybe the corksport downpipe. I don't know. what would/did you do?

I should get my tax return inside of a week. I'll probably do the intercooler. that's a big time gain. 3 psi is almost 20 horse if that's true.

i think thats why your seeing people go to 21psi cuase they have their boost set to 18 and becuase of the retained boost that was previously lost they are hitting 20,21,22? thats just a theory what do you think?

I spike to 19.5ish now, and in 6th, I sit at 17 comfortably.

I've been trying to figure out exactly why the boost pressure would change with an aftermarket intercooler and honestly, the answer evades me. the ECU reads boost at the turbo outlet I believe, and thusly, the intercooler doesn't affect how hard the turbo is working, because nothing has changed as far as the ECU can see. the intercooler should be cooling the air more than the stock one, though, and cooler air is more dense, which equals less pressure.

it baffles me. all I know is that it works.

supposedly its cuase a certain amount of boost is lost as it paases through the intercooler, if you have a more effeiciant intercooler less boost is lost. thus you gain boost that was previously lost

that makes sense.

actually, yeah, that makes perfect sense. ok I get it now!

sweet. so I think I am going to do the intercooler.

me too, the good thing about the extra boost too is the fact that the turbo doesn't have to work anyharder its free boost so to say..

not the test pipe, the down pipe. and I was originally just going to do the forge valve, but then I remembered that my tax return comes this month. I'm really liking the intercooler idea. I've wanted one of those since day 1, but I had no idea if I wanted to get a front mount or a top mount. from what I can tell, at this point, top mount is just more practical.

The intercooler upgrade is an investment of sorts, in my opinion. First it protects your turbo engine much better from the heat generated compared to the smaller stock unit. Plus it upgrades performance almost right away and probably will handle charge flow and temps as more performance parts and tuning are added

I just ordered the Corkscrew motor mount inserts. I've heard lots of good things about them (and being good for a daily driver) that I am surprised I haven't ordered them before.

They should get here in a few days, I can't wait.

I agree 100%

Sorry, don't know if i answered your question. I have mazdaspeed cold air, and am awaiting topmont intercooler and Corking with their turboback full exhaust. I'm looking at springs and bars right now maybe coilover fully adjustable, then more wheel and tire 235/18. Then the tuning will be inserted between motor and suspension work. I'd mention fuel delivery upgrades but that's a touchy area(look away!) on this forum.

yeah, I like the gains from the exhaust side, but I am hesitant to do the mods, because I don't like the drone. this is a daily driver, and the last car I did exhaust on sounded incredibly mean but it was just too dang loud. I'm thinking a downpipe will happen eventually.
