FCD why can't I find one?

I checked www.joepmbc.com but it's not listed.I know the risks in having one but it's my problem.and yes I have most supporting mods,engine manedge ment soon.If it blows build it stronger!

anyway,a link would be great.

another thing I can't find is how to get my hands on the MPI tuner,or a price,or what is included.

there are risks in running a fuel cut defenser? and yeah if it blows build it better, for a lot of money, or you could just get forged internals and make it not blow. anyway check the mazdaspeed section of JOE-P's site, i had a bit of trouble navigating the site as well (don't have the FCD yet but was going to buy it then crashed my car.)

yeah the risks are that you tend to up the boost more then you should,thats all.

I checked there and found nothing but boost controlers.

Forged internals aren't going to ensure that your engine won't blow. It just gives you a better margin of error when it comes to detonation.

As for Joe P's FCD, it's hard to say if he still makes them. Last time I checked he was, but he gets pissed at the MSP owners and says he won't make MSP specific parts anymore. Might be what happened this time.

I was serious,the only risk is it allows you to up the boost.The fuel cut was designed into the car on purpose to stop people from upping the boost.FCD gets rid of that.
 
lol, sort of like saving me from myself, i understand, i thought it actually directly caused a problem, the whole "fuel cut stopping from upping boost" i knew.
 
i have an FCD on the way, its a vc2 current clamp. ordered it from splitsec.com, car is gone so i have no use for it obviuosly. will sell just PM me.

Nah, not completely it- I had to take the MSP items down for a bit until I get all the backordered FCD's caught up. It has been a rough summer- some people understand and have been VERY patient- THANK YOU :)!!- some haven't and are making my life miserable lol.. I don't know if they are going to go back up or not due to past problems here. I am trying to get my dealers to stock them, but none want to unfortunately after browsing a while and seeing/hearing what other vendors have gone through. I have one dealer I am working on that is kind of 60-40 no/yes- I am trying to get him to just say "OK", but the few mazdaspeed customers he has had in his shop were a pain for him and I am having a hard time winning him over. I don't know what it is- the majority here are great to deal with, but the ones that aren't are the loudest and kind of ruin it for the bunch as I have said many times in the past :(.

Anyway, as the site says- email me for mazdaspeed parts, and we will discuss it from there. As for the site being tough to navigate, I know and I am not too fond of it- but I cannot do better. If there is anyone here who is good with web design and would be willing to help out or do some side work, let me know- I want better, but it still has to be easy enough for me to go into dream weaver and edit text, add pics, etc. :). Thanks.

That is part of it, the other part is ANYTIME you do something that changes what the ECU sees for air, you are affecting fuel and timing maps also. It bases everything on load- calculated by airflow, throttle posistion, temp, rpm, etc.- if it thinks it is getting less air, it can also give more timing and less fuel. This is commonplace with any fcd or any airflow manipulating (AFC, whatever) device. You can usually get away with it with most cars because turbo cars are designed well on the safe side for the most part and you have room to play, but the MSP is kind of on the edge with timing and compression- especially if it is flashed. There is plenty of fuel since it is so rich stock, so for the most part there are no problems, but some people have noticed detonation easier- especially with cheaper fuels. Running a mix of 108-110 and at least 93 octane is always best when you are running higher boost and an FCD (you wanna play, you gotta pay :) ), but not necessary- you just need to know what you are listening for and such and keep the boost safe on pump gas. This is why I always say that the FCD is geared towards advanced tuners over the ones who just up the boost- there is more to it than just turning a knob and going fast :).
